To my hometown best friend,
Let me start out by saying thank you, thank you for everything you do. I know we may be over 1,000 miles apart, but distance doesn't mean a thing with a friend like you. I can call or text you at any time of the day, and I know that you would answer for me. It could be for a dumb reason like telling you about my day, or it could be in a situation where I need advice right away.
You're truly one of a kind and I wouldn't trade our friendship for anything in the world. I think the thing that makes us so close, is the fact that we grew up together. We know everything there is to know about one another. We even went through our awkward stages (what awful times) and teenage angst together. Not to mention, all the inside jokes we have together that we crack up about when something reminds us of them. It just so happened that we managed to become part of each other's family. We went through so much together and it's hard to not be friends with someone when they understand why you are the person you are. You understand me more than I understand myself sometimes. Anytime I need motivation or the cold hard truth, you are there to give it to me like it is. You're not afraid to be honest with me, and that's why I admire you so much.
There's never a time when you doubt me, even when I doubt myself. You're one of my biggest supporters and you're always proud of my success. Anytime anything good (or bad) happens, you're the first one I want to tell. You never get mad at me when I send you 1,000-word texts when I just need someone to rant to. Also, you appreciate my double chin Snapchats and send them right back to me. And every time we get reunited you always have the biggest smile on your face.
I am so proud of everything you have accomplished in your life. And I can't wait to see what the future holds for you, even for us. I will always be there for you no matter what you need. You always have an open invite to stay with me whenever you need to get away from it all. I will always support everything you do, and just know that I always have your back.
Of course, we fight sometimes, but that doesn't mean we could ever stop being friends. Most people believe that distance is one of the main killers of any relationship. But I don't believe that. When you want a relationship like ours to work, you have to put in 110 percent. It takes effort and time to maintain. Friendships don’t just drift apart, it happens when people decide that it's too much effort to keep trying to be friends with someone you don’t see every day. So thank you, thank you for putting in the effort with me to make this work.
I wouldn't be the person I am today without you. And I certainly wouldn't be as confident in myself if it weren't for you. You're one of the best things in my life right now, and I would not have it any other way. We might not be together right now, but we will reunite soon enough. I love you more than you could know, and I appreciate you so much. So, thank you again.
Love always,
Your hometown best friend
