Though they have always been somewhat of an annoying presence, I would never want to be an only child! So thanks Mom and Dad for not stopping after me. Younger siblings were the perfect play things—I could carry them around all the time.
To my little brother—I have forgiven the haircuts you gave my Barbies and the theft of my spot as the favorite child. I may have struggled between playing around and acting like your parent, but it has only made life more interesting. I promise that I do everything out of love! You are this talented, intelligent guy that inspires so many, whether it's family or your soccer kiddos. Now looking at this practically grown man in front of me, I could not be prouder!
To my little munchkin—Having a little sister was like starting all over again with my own baby doll. “When can I dress her up or take her out?” I constantly want to spoil you rotten while also wanting you to keep that great humility of yours. I want to come home and bring you gifts and take you everywhere to experience life together. I miss you so much when I am at school. I wish I could bring you with me on every exciting adventure. However, I also want to be selfish and keep your inner beauty and innocence locked up. You are this super cool chick who cares about everyone while also not caring at all what others think of you. I am thoroughly enjoying your awkward middle school years with the hair dye and crazy change in music. From One Direction to Sleeping with Sirens, from the cute chubby cheeks to your scary, glaring looks—I have loved every minute.
My siblings have been such an inspirational part of my life because they give off such a joy I have not seen in anyone else. I constantly hope that there are others out there like them to change hearts and the world. I cannot wait to see what you two do for yourselves and for others. The world is so lucky to have you and I’m so glad I can say you are my siblings. I truly have been blessed!
So thank you, Mom and Dad, for having more kids; it is way cheaper than a therapist! They get me so well—what bugs me, what I love, and the way to my heart. Thank you because I cannot imagine my life as an only child. I cannot imagine coming home to a life without their personalities nor can I conceive a life with boundaries. I do not want to remember my childhood without the stupid fights because then I would not be who I am today. Thank you Mom and Dad for giving me relationships with no boundaries and best friends to mess with for a lifetime. I could not imagine different siblings or a lack of their personalities in my life. Being an only child seems like such a boring life after all this time with troublemakers. Thanks because they are the best thing in my life!
