Thank You Dad For Abandoning Me

This is a very unusual thank you letter right?

Most of us, as daughters, would write a letter to appreciate their dad for things like always being there, or for treating us as their little princesses or the expectations of what not to take from any man. Yes, this is an unusual letter, but a much-needed letter as well, as to finally being able to move on after 15 years from your absence.

If I had the chance to see you and at least have a small conversation, I would. I would want to show you the person I become. I would love to share my dreams and career goals with you. Even though, I have always questioned myself to see if I was the reason you left…

Was I not good enough for you?

Tears of sadness every night wondering where you were at, many questions asked with not many responses. Even though this letter may sound like I'm sad, I'm really not. Because at the end of the day, you made me so much stronger and you also made me realize what not to expect from any man. My expectations are now much higher, thanks to you.

Thank you for making me realize how of an amazing mom I have, that was able to take on both roles for my brother and me. I cannot thank you enough for that. You have missed very important times in our lives since you were never there for us. But that's okay… that's just life. Live and learn, they say.

Thank you for abandoning your own family, your own blood. I really do mean it, if it would've not been for you, I would've not been where I am right now. Much happier than ever, since I was able to finally move on from you, a person that does NOT deserve me.

Sincerely,

The Child You Don't Deserve

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
