Thank You and Goodbye, TVD!

Seven years, almost eight seasons now. Where has the time gone, TVD?

Thank You and Goodbye, TVD!

On October 21, I am sure I was not the only one who was thrilled for the eighth season of Vampire Diaries. It is an exciting yet sad moment, because when it premiered that Friday night, it was the last premiere of a new season. That's right, folks; TVD is coming to an end with season eight.

For almost eight years, we have welcomed the Salvatore Brothers, Elena Gilbert, Caroline Forbes, and Bonnie Bennett. Those are only a few characters that have dug themselves a spot in our beating hearts.

I didn't get to start watching TVD from the beginning. I started watching it on Netflix and finally caught up in time to watch season 4 on television. I even got my mom hooked on the show. It became routine to shut up, turn the tv on, and watch the new episode.

I will admit that I have questioned Julie Plec on the last few seasons, because I just didn't know how to react to seasons 6 and 7. They were different from the prior seasons, but I loved them just the same. Vampire Diaries has become one of the biggest fandoms out there.

I have told y'all before that I write my own stories on Wattpad, a site that allows me read others' stories and write my own. Vampire Diaries has brought people from all over the world together just through one connection: they love the show. Fanfiction- what fans write inspired by said show and give their own spin to the overall plot- is everywhere.

The reason for this article isn't just to tell you facts about The Vampire Diaries. I wanted to tell Julia Plec thank you for producing this amazing show. Not only have I met some interesting people just by sharing the love we have for TVD, but I have also made friends that I consider almost like family.

This past July, Julie and the cast posted a video on YouTube, thanking the fans for letting them into our homes and telling us that we helped them create the family that they have now from the show. I started crying because I hate that this season will be the last of any new episodes. I understand, though; as a writer myself, I know the feeling when a story has come to an end and nothing else can be done. With that, here are some of the things that TVD has taught us.

Damon Salvatore taught us that it is alright to be ourselves. That we don't have to change for anyone. Family is important. No matter the fights, family is a strong bond. We see this with Stefan and Damon. They will always be brothers. They love and protect each other. They both have faults, but they are what makes them stronger.

Stefan Salvatore showed us that giving up is never the answer. Hope is what keeps us going. Not every love can be epic, but it can still be important and exciting. Blood is thicker than water. I love both the Salvatore Brothers, but what I love about Stefan is that he stays humble and kind (most of the time). He takes control and tries to do whatever it takes to save someone he loves, even if it means sacrificing himself.

I am going to end it on Elena Gilbert. This girl has been to hell and back. She taught us to love fearlessly, to go on adventures- that it is okay to love two people at the same time, because we are lucky to even fall in love once in our very human lives. Elena is loyal to her loved ones even when they aren't blood. She sticks by her friends, and she taught us that it is okay to cry. Don't bottle things up. Lastly, don't judge a book by its cover; always see the good in people. They may surprise you!

So I want to see say thank you again to Julie Plec and the Vampire Diaries Cast. The last seven years have been great. I am looking forward to going out with a bang with this last season, so don't let me down.

Goodbye. I will miss this show a lot.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
