It is easy to get caught up with assignments, work, and personal drama throughout our busy lives. We sometimes get so caught up that we tend to have a little mental breakdown, every now and then. If it wasn't for my closest friends, or better yet, my very own support system, life would not be a walk in the park.
If you are lucky enough to have a support system that will guide you through the good and bad, you can take on any day's challenge. We all walk into college hoping to walk out with a group of friends who have made life a lot easier and a whole lot more fun. I can safely say I am walking out with my future bridesmaids, even if the whole husband thing isn't planned yet.
There is something special about finding people who are right there with you to debate between Chipotle or Panera, insist on going out just for the story, or stay up with you all night to finish a paper you haven't started.
College is the time to learn a lot about yourself, and the people you want to surround yourself with. My friends have shaped me, and they have built me up along the way. If you have friends that make any day a lot easier, hold on to them, and thank them.
Here are some reasons we should all thank our friends.
1. Thank you for being able to make me actually laugh out loud at any time of the day.
We all have our group texts, whether we love them or sometimes wish we could keep them on do not disturb. At the end of the day, having those 70 texts of absolute nonsense, really does make your day.
2. Thank you for knowing exactly what to say when life doesn't seem like it's going as planned.
Sometimes, without expecting it, life changes and goes a different way. These times may be tough, but it is always better when we have friends who are open and honest with us. They give advice at any time of the day with the latest indie playlist in the background to talk it over with, and they are ready with open arms.
3. Thank you for staying up till 3 a.m. to listen about the latest boy drama.
So maybe we didn't find Prince Charming in a frat basement the night before, and we tell ourselves to give Tinder a chance. Having friends who listen to you and remind you that there will always be wine and pizza, are good friends to keep around.
4. Thank you for telling me to go out on the nights all I wanted to do was stay in and curl up in a ball.
Memories come from the most spontaneous decisions with the best of people. Thanks for making me get dressed, take a candid Instagram, and having something to talk about at Sunday brunch.
5. Thank you for being you, and being the best support system anyone could ask for!
I am lucky enough to have found such genuine people who have supported me through everything. You are the first people I tell when I am so excited to get a job offer or a formal date. Your positive vibes always make it easier to move a step forward. Through every difficult exam, rejection, or drama, I always have the best advice to keeping me going. Sometimes, it's easy to think we are carrying the weight of the world, but with friends like mine there is nothing I can't do.
