First Roomies Are Pretty Serious, Make Sure You Thank Yours

I can’t imagine having anyone else to bond with for a whole year.

Me

A first roommate is a pretty intense thing. Before we met, I told myself if it was horrible we would only be together for a year so I could survive, but thankfully I got a good one. So, Thank you. Thank you for endless things. Embarking on a new journey in a new city is not always easy. But if it wasn’t for you it would have been much harder.

Thanks for being there even when our parents left us and we had to start out on our own. Thanks for being there as we roamed around looking for where our classes would be. Thanks for being there on the first day of school, and being an instant lunch buddy afterward.

Thanks for being here when things at home were complicated, but you were a nice 3rdparty input. Thanks for always respecting my odd quirks (i.e. milk, night night stretches). Thanks for always being there for a rant about anything that could ever annoy me. Thanks for always listening, and suggesting great Netflix shows like turning me into a Gilmore Girls monster.

Thanks for telling me my hair was brown even though it was basically dirty blonde but I told you I needed a big change and brunette was the only way to do it. Thanks for thought-provoking talks about Jesus late at night and laughs about how great the nunnery will be (if you don’t know, you don’t know don’t ask). Thanks for cringing at the hair in the shower stories and learning to like my Keurig that woke you up most mornings. Most importantly, thanks for getting up at 4:30 in the morning and being there for the best day of my life aka the day sweet Tim Tebow hugged me and I needed nothing more out of my life.

I can’t imagine having anyone else to bond with for a whole year. No matter where we go from here, I am thankful to have had you by my side through what felt like the first huge change in my life. They say it’s funny how well you get to know someone when you live with them, and sure enough they were right. You are definitely a blessing I will count, being in a room alone will be odd!!! So thank you times a million.

P.S. I really hope we were the friendly ones and #VolBabies

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
