There are many people who don't like you. They think you're boring, drawn out, twangy, blah blah blah. But what I want to do is thank you because in all honesty, country music is hands down the most honest category of music and to that, you deserve to be loved.
You put raw feelings into words. There's nothing that's more pleasing than hearing a song and feeling connected to the lyrics, not just the beat. You make people feel that the person who is singing the song is reading their mind and putting their heartache, their excitement, their happiness, their head over heels craziness into words. You're the best type of music to feel a connection to and to that, I thank you.
You're honest in the sense that your category of performers are so authentic and for the most part, down to earth. You're kind and you make people feel like they're understood, which is all anyone ever wants to feel in this world. You don't use many profanities so you're very welcoming when to comes to all different age groups and people.
Thank you for being there on a Friday night when we get out of work and want to crack open a beer and have a night out on the town. Thank you for putting into words what falling in love really feels like, or for explaining the heartbreak of it all. Whether someone is going through a divorce or it's a high school love that just fell apart, your songs and words can relate. Thank you for describing what it feels like to have a dream come true or to miss something or someone in a way no one else can.
The thing is, people, misunderstand you because they don't realize that there are many different types of country music. There's country that sounds more like pop, there's country that sounds more like rock, there's country that sounds more twangy, and that's the beauty of all of it. There's a country music and artist for everyone, so thank you for being so versatile that you can steal hearts from anyone.
Thank you for always being there, for always making me crank up the radio, for making my sing (well, as best I can) my heart out, for making my heart explode with happiness when I'm already happy, for making my tears feel justified when I'm broken.
Thank you for being you and for being the rawest, realest, most comforting, most rewarding category of music.
