Dear Fellow Marchers,
I am so thankful to have been with you during our amazing time together as we marched for equality on all spectrums.
As a college student worried about her future and the future of her peers, it was extremely inspiring to see the immense amount of support each marcher had for one another. The amount of safety I felt being around so many people who were all advocating women's rights was incredibly inspiring. I have never felt a part of something stronger than being able to be apart of more 600 marches around the world.
While marching, I was able to meet people with various backgrounds. The marchers consisted of women, men, children, black Americans, white Americans, immigrants, LGBTQ+, no matter who you were, you were welcome. This march gave me hope for the future. It helped me see and understand that we will not backdown, we will not go down without a fight. We will march and protest until we feel our communities are treated equally. We, as women and supporters of women's fundamental rights, know that when we put our minds together, we can work to the best of our abilities to get what we deserve.
Women need to remember that we are better, together. The biggest event related to being a woman on January 21, 2017 will not be forgotten for the years to come. I have never been more proud to be a woman and I thank every one of you for standing up for my rights and for all women to come.
Thank You,
Colette
