Texts You Get In Your Group Chat

As a college student, you are bound to have what is known as "the group chat." This is a group text made up of your closest friends, whether they be from home or from school. In this group, you are free to say exactly what you think and feel because no matter how far apart you are, your closest friends are only a text away. Odds are you've grown accustom to how the members of this perfect chat text and are able to tell exactly what their texts mean without explanation. These are just a few of the texts that us group chatters know all too well.

1. "Help me pick a selfie."

This is the reason that some group chats exist. Your best friends are the only ones who you can really trust to be honest with you about the important things in life.

2. "I'm dropping out and being a stripper."

Usually, this text means that your friend is struggling in one of her classes and could use your help. Occasionally it means that your friend is about to make a lot more money than you.

3. "Help me pick an outfit."

This is another thing you can only trust your absolute best friends with. A friend who tells you that you look good in everything is not a good friend.

4. "I hate boys."

This one is fun. This means you're about to ruin a boy's life or at the very least plot to ruin it. This is probably every girl's favorite hobby.

5. "Go like my picture."

This means it's time for you to serve your main purpose as a best friend and make that girl look good on social media. If you're a really good friend maybe you'll even comment too.

6. "*Screenshot of a text with someone else*."

Group chats have revolutionized the spread of information. With the click of a button, you can share scandalous gossip or developing arguments with your closest confidants. A true blessing.

7. "Look what *insert celebrity* posted."

Every group of friends has a celebrity they love to obsess over. For my group chat and I, it is every current and previous cast member of Saturday Night Live. I usually know if Jimmy Fallon or Pete Davidson posts on social media without even opening an app. Again, a blessing.

8. "I LOve youu all uR so beauyifyl <3."

This is a drunk text. Drunk texts are fun as long as they're to your loving group chat and not to an ex-boyfriend.

9. "imu."

If your group chat is made up of friends from home, you understand this text. This is an easy, painless way of letting your friends know how much you miss them without getting super emotional. Odds are your friends "mu" too.

10. "LOOK AT THIS PICTURE OF A DOG I FOUND."

This is essential. While it may not always be a picture of a dog, your group chat is a place that you can share anything you feel you just can't keep to yourself. So go ahead, send that picture, I'm sure if you have good friends they'll be just as excited as you are.

11. "Remember that time when..."

There are some things only your absolute best friends can understand. Whether it's talking about a crazy teacher from high school or an inside joke that only they'll find funny, sometimes the people around you just won't understand. Nobody's fresher than your clique.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
