Summer means beach visits for the lucky souls, and with beaches are oceans and with oceans are the undiscovered deep depths containing SHARKS. Not only are sharks completely interesting, but they make some of the best (and the worst) movies. I love a good [horrible] movie, but horrible shark movies are even better. Here are some horribly amazing shark movies that you should check out this summer.
1. Sharknado
This flick first aired on July 11, 2013 on the SyFy channel. This shark movie is about a tornado going across water and picking up sharks, making a once normal, already thrilling, cyclone of air a devastatingly funny sharknado. One of my favorite horrible movies, and a must see. Also, check out it's lovely partners in crime Sharknado 2, Sharknado 3, and in July look out for Sharknado 4.
2. 2-Headed Shark Attack
While it was meant to be a horror film I could not stop laughing the majority of the movie. This shark-tastic movie premiered January 31, 2012 and appeared on the SyFy channel September 8, 2012. This movie contains the genetic malformation polycephaly, meaning two heads. A great white shark with two heads terrorizes some horrible actors. Another must watch.
3. Megaladon
Megaladons are a species of badass and (hopefully) extinct giant sharks. This film came out February 1, 2004. Slow moving in the beginning, this shark movie's plot revolves around an advanced oil rig drilling into an underwater cave that is home to prehistoric marine life, including a megaladon. The special effects are nothing short of amusing, and since megaldons are my favorite kind of sharks I, personally, thoroughly enjoyed this terrible movie.
4. Malibu Shark Attack
When I first watched this movie, I didn't know goblin sharks existed. In case you also do not know what a goblin shark is, it is a very rare species of shark that live in the very deep depths of the ocean. Known as a "living fossil" these creepy sharks are the star of this movie. Airing on the SyFy channel June 25, 2009, this movie is about these sharks terrorizing Malibu after a tsunami hits. So bad it's good. Check it out.
5. Deep Blue Sea
This is my all time favorite movie. I have watched it at least twenty times, and although I absolutely love it, Rotten Tomatoes had other thoughts, giving it the average rating of 5.6/10. This film came out July 28, 1999 and is about scientist using the neurons of sharks that they genetically enhanced in order to make a cure for Alzheimers. No matter what Rotten Tomatoes say, I love it, and believe it to be a must watch film.
While I have only given you five horribly wonderful shark movies to watch this summer, there are tons more where this came from. Sand Sharks, Jaws: The Revenge, Dinoshark, Sharktopus, and Dark Tide are just a few more movies for you to check out when you're in the mood for a terrible movie.
