After Mother’s day where we celebrated how amazing each of our moms truly are, I think it is fitting to celebrate the weird things that they do. Each of these things in the list they do for a good reason but they are rather comical. My mom does a lot of these and if she doesn’t I know one of my friend’s that moms do.
1. Cleaning the dishes before putting them in the dishwasher
The confusion is why have a dishwasher when you are just going to do it by hand. Her reason is because the dishwasher leaves specks so she cleans it before so that does not happen and then the dishwasher can sanitize it.
2. Asks you want you want for dinner right after you finished lunch
After eating lunch and your tummy is all warm from the amazing food you just ate, it’s hard to think about what sounds good for the next meal. Her reasoning is so that she knows if she needs to prepare anything for later or how far she is going to drive for us to eat.
3. Make themselves mad when the open the door to check your room just to see that it is dirty
When the door to my room is shut, it is because I am hiding the laundry that I have not put away and the unmade bed that I slept in. This one I honestly do not understand the reasoning behind.
4. The excessive or incorrect use of emojis
This one is just cute. She is showing that she is happy and that she is a cool mom. It’s just funny when you are sent the crying laughing emoji when you are dropped off for college because she was “crying happy tears” not actually laughing so hard because you are no longer living with her.
5. Always calling when you are taking a nap
I believe mothers have a special talent when it comes to this one. It is so sweet that you want to talk to me and know how things are going because I miss you too and want to know the same thing, but I don’t know how it always occurs during nap time.
6. Making sure the house is completely clean before you leave on vacation
This one seems like we are making it look nice and pretty for the robbers to see. Her reasoning is so that we come home to a clean house and just relax when we return.
7. Signing you up for things without telling you
Thank you for signing me up for emails for healthy recipes and for a quote of the day just in case I need some guidance and I can’t reach you right away. It’s just always a surprise when I see something new and I have to wonder where it came from.
8. Waking you up on the weekends because you shouldn’t sleep all day
She doesn’t want you to sleep the day away when you can have such a fun weekend. Although sometimes after a long week of school, your idea of fun is sleep.
9. Being able to fall asleep through any movie
This one is yet another talent. She is a trooper and is willing to watch whatever you want because she will be watching it through her eyelids.
10. Loving you no matter what
Lastly, thank you for dealing with me when I’m hungry, crabby, sleepy, grumpy, missing home, upset, and every other moment when I’m acting irrational. I love you!
