By far, the hardest thing in the world is waking up for your (insert ungodly AM hour here) class on a cold winter morning when it's still dark outside and you're buried under your blankets. After snoozing your alarm 4 times, you realize you have exactly 20 minutes to be ready and out of your dorm room. You may feel like a hot mess, but you don't have to look like one! Here are some tips to make you seem way more prepared for the day, and you'll thank yourself for the extra half hour of sleep later.
1. Wake up looking flawless.
For puffy "morning eyes," always keep two metal spoons in your freezer. Press the rounded side under your eyes until they are no longer cold. That will bring down the swelling. Touch it up with a little highlighter when doing your makeup, and you will look wide awake (and sparkly)!
2. Use one product for everything!
Try using a creme blush for cheeks, eyeshadow, and lip color. Crazy trick, huh? Less product, less time wasted.
3. Tinted moisturizer is truly a gift to girls everywhere.
Use it right after washing your face and in place of your usual foundation-concealer-contour process. It cuts down on time and products, and your skin will thank you.
4. Wet hair works wonders.
If you're lucky enough to have time to wash your hair, the possibilities are endless. Use that to your advantage for braids, buns, ponytails, or anything else you can come up with. Or, just rock the wet mermaid look.
5. If you aren't so lucky, dry shampoo is your best friend.
Always have some on hand! Also, remember that the messy bun always looks cute. Try dressing it up with a bow or decorated bobby pin. The look takes less than a minute and looks wonderfully effortless!
6. Keep your outfit simple!
Always keep an arsenal of plain basics in your closet. This includes leggings, v-neck tees, sweaters, etc. Choose whatever fits your taste that doesn’t require much work. Basics are easy to throw on and go, not to mention easily mixed and matched for more color combinations. Basics really are everything.
7. Accessories are your secret weapon.
Use statement pieces like bold necklaces or fun scarves as the focal point of the outfit. Add them to your basic outfit for some extra flare and a personal touch.
8. Skip the heels or take them to go.
I love my heels and can walk well in them. However, if you have to jet off, save yourself the time, pain and risk of a broken ankle. Put on your flats or wear comfy shoes untill you get close enough to your class to change them over.
9. Minis! Keep travel sized versions of your essential products.
Add travel deodorant and a travel toothbrush and toothpaste to that list, because when you’re in a hurry, you tend to forget the most important steps!
10. Stay happy!
It doesn’t matter how late you woke up this morning. There’s always time to turn your day around, so the best tip is to enjoy yourself and smile. There’s no better beauty secret than that.
