Ahh, good ol' 88.7 FM WRHU, it's always had a special place in your heart. As soon as you finish that ten-week training class, you're off onto an exciting adventure of broadcast media and communications! Whether you're still in the training class or a long time veteran, I'm sure you've definitely ran into these moments...

1. The excitement of seeing this guy on News 12

After all, he does like to sleep nights! ;)

2. Immediately charging for the tracking hour sign-up sheet during your training class

Did you have to sell your soul to one show for ten weeks because it's either the only one that you're available for or your dream show was already taken? Mine was the Jazz Cafe (but I got to do R&B Serenade twice, which was just as awesome)! *vigorous jazz hands and snaps*

3. The stress of arranging your schedule just so you can get your desired slot

And of course, the pain of rearranging it once more when you don't get one of your top three choices.

4. Panicking about EAS Tests

Remember the first slot you had to do it and freaked you out so badly you had to run into the office screaming for help? Yeah, me too.

5. Being an Islanders fan by default

Whether your in the sports department or not even a sports fan at all, you gotta support the bae no matter what! I mean, who doesn't love discounted tickets every time you go to a game!?

6. Knowing the Legal ID for verbatim

We can't help it every time we hear it, it's literally permeated into our brains the minute we sign the contract! Speaking of which, when you're not hearing it on the air waves...

7. Complete the following sentence, "Spumante Italian Restaurant..."

Bonus points if you read it in Andrew Manning's voice!

8. Locking yourself up in any of the studios for God knows how long to record an interview or a package

If you're trying to do it while Newsline is being produced, I salute you.

9. And then locking yourself up in the Music Office for eons if you're a block-show format producer

As the former host and producer of Alternative Nation, this was definitely my favorite part of being at the station - sometimes I'd be there for two to three hours just adding all of my favorite alt rock tunes! Sigh, I miss my baby... *single tear*

10. Finally, the overwhelming pride and joy of being involved with an award-winning non-commercial radio station

Because we're, "Broadcasting from The Lawrence Herbert School of Communication, this is WRHU Hempstead - ranked #1 in the world by The Princeton Review! Radio Hofstra University..."

As cliche as it sounds, I love each and every person I met there and am so glad I took that brave plunge in my senior year - without you guys, I probably wouldn't be here writing this article!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
