10 Misconceptions Guys Have About Girls

I am not making these up.

1. Girls do in fact grow body hair.

Friend told me about how one of his friends once got confused when he saw women's Venus razors in a grocery store. Thought it was a new and dumb idea.

"It's not like they got hair."

"...Yeah, they do."

"What, no they don't. I've never seen it once."

*Holds up razor* "Ya know why? It's cause of these!"

We do in fact grow body hair. Most of us just don't like the feeling of it so we get rid of it.

2. Periods actually do cause us legitimate pain.

Never make fun of a girl's period. Never make "time of the month" or "pms" jokes. They're not funny! We are in pain for nearly a week every month and are sometimes nearly in tears if we don't take enough pain killers. And we will go through this for the majority of our lives. Also, lady products are not evil. So stop acting like the world will end if you have to touch a package of them. I know too many guys that won't help out their wives or girlfriends and shop for them because they don't want to touch them. It's sad and pathetic. Grow up. Periods happen.

3. Breaking a nail.

Breaking a nail is actually pretty painful. Runners or athletes would know this because sometimes they can lose toenails in their sport. For girls, it's not only the physical pain of having a long nail snap off, but also (if you're OCD) then you have to cut all the other nails to match. And that really sucks if you'd been growing them out for a while to make them look nice.

4. Bras.

Contrary to popular belief girls do not just wear fancy bras for men, we wear them for ourselves and to support these massive weights hanging off our chest. These over glorified milk jugs need support.

5. Wearing makeup isn't a form of lying to you.

I have no idea how many guys I've seen or heard say this and even some girls and it's not okay. Girls wear makeup to feel good about themselves or for the fun of it, and it's not always to impress or "trick" you. So quit acting like everything we do is supposed to make you feel good or impress you.

6. The whole "nice guys finish last" thing is really old.

Just stop it. Quit your complaining and grow up already. Nice guys do not finish last and the fact that you act so entitled and whiny when we don't want to be your girlfriend even though you acted "so chivalrous" makes you not a nice guy. Did you ever consider just being a decent person for the sake of being decent? Stop expecting us to put out just because you were nice to us. Don't just act like a gentleman, be a gentleman.

7. Girls are so confusing.

Yes, I'll agree with you on this one. And sometimes we can't even understand our own secret girl codes. Sometimes when I say I'm fine I actually am, and other times I'm dying inside but I can't say anything because then I'll start ranting and be called crazy. So better to just skip that whole mess.

8. Showing you care.

Spouses, boyfriends, so on, we girls don't need a ton of gifts or flowers or anything like that to know that you love us. Just show us with small things like helping us clean, taking out the garbage without us having to ask, or just spontaneous kisses and asking how our day has been. We know you love us. But it's also nice to know and see it in real ways.

9. Girls inherently like pink.

Basic, but needs to be said. Not every girl fits into this perfect, pretty mold made of glitter and pink plastic crap.

10. Words can be worse than actions.

Something that so many guys don't understand it that if you are an important, respected person in our life (husband, boyfriend), and you make just one bad comment about us or something we like, then it will forever change the way we think about it. Example: make one silly joking comment at us using the word ugly, it will take years of telling us that we're beautiful to make us actually feel it again.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

The Importance Of Being A Good Person

An open letter to the good-hearted people.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
