What makes a designer a designer? Some could argue it's a creative eye and keen attention to detail. Others may say that it's the ability to create beautiful work, on and off the computer. Me? I'd say it's the little things that are universal to all designers that others just don't understand.
Here's just a few of them!
You love the Adobe Creative Cloud more than most people.
You spend so much of your time with open .pds files, you may as well just give up on having friends and commit yourself to the creative suite.
Finding files is impossible
Everything is a final version until you look at it again...and tweak the spacing...and sizing...and everything else about the piece you're doing.
A rainbow pinwheel has never instilled such fear in your heart
You know when you see this that your day is going to get oh so much worse and all that stuff you did since the last save? Totally gone.
The unholy moment you save in the wrong color space
Nothing quite ruins your day more like printing something and realizing it's in RGB or posting a graphic online in CMYK. Why is everything neon/muddy? I know why.
Look. Comic Sans is an easy target. But really? There are so many bad typefaces that fill me with such rage. Why? Who knows? I am a broken woman/designer.
Turning your friends into designers
Mostly just to complain about bad design you see in public places and have them suffer along side of you.
"Can you critique this for me?"
Is this centered? Should it be centered? How can I activate the space better?
"Can you design this for me? For free?"
I really appreciate your concern for me having work to put in my portfolio but I'd also really like to be paid for this work you want me to do. Please.
Critique days are the worst
Do I have all of my final files? Did I mount this right? Am I missing anything?
Who am I anymore?
Bleeding for your design
I have too many stories of blissfully cutting paper and then suddenly it's red with my own blood. Not something I expected when I decided to make pretty things in Photoshop.
