Stop waiting for motivation to come knocking at your door- you've been stood up. Instead, use these small steps to get through your to-do list and save time later.
1. Count down from 5.
Mel Robbins has mentioned this in her motivational speeches, and even written a book on it. Counting down from the number five, and forcing yourself to get up on "one" will push you to take that baby step to kick-start your day. Try this simple technique when you're struggling to get yourself moving!
2. Break it down with a list.
Making a list of each thing you need to do will help you to simplify your tasks and to consider them individually, instead of as one intimidating whole. After you make the list, take on one responsibility at a time- this will be much less stressful and help you maintain your focus!
3. Start with larger tasks.
This is one cliche I could not agree more with. Tackling the largest responsibility first may seem intimidating, but it's much easier to accomplish at the start of your to-do list while you have the most energy. Once you complete that 10-page paper, you'll feel energized and view all of your smaller assignments as much easier to tackle!
4. Look at things as opportunities, not tasks.
It's all about how you perceive things. If you can think of even the smallest benefit which could come from this seemingly awful task, it's easy to turn it around into an opportunity. When you perceive your 8 am class as an opportunity to further your education- rather than as a daunting responsibility, it will make you feel much more inspired to go. Try changing your perception to get yourself out of bed faster!
