It's crazy how powerful technology is. You don't even see children at the park anymore. Nobody plays board games anymore either, personally, mine have been under my bed for just about 8 years now. That's because every year the next big thing is about to be released that this 9 year old, or even 40 year old just has to have. For example, when I was younger I wanted the Nintendo DS so incredibly bad. I got it for Christmas and was so excited, now I would play for hours on end because I just HAD to pass this next level and be able to play along with my friends . Months carry on and my next "want" is the iPod touch that was released by Apple. I get that for Christmas, meanwhile, I could care less whether my Nintendo DS was charged or not, honestly, not even knowing where it was. Next thing I know Apple is about to release their newest version of the iPod touch, I absolutely could not believe this. I was just so excited to have previous version and now in a couple of months everyone is about to the new multicolored, lightweight version. Moving on, I got a phone for Christmas a few years later, but now the big thing is the one and only iPhone by Apple. Now all of my friends have the iPhone4 while I have an android.
A phone is a phone but when you can't be in the
group chats or FaceTime, you begin to feel a little left out from the rest of the world. Years and
years go by and Apple continues to release iPhones that just keep getting bigger and better and
also that my peers just keep on buying, and I'm still with this android. I get a job and decide that
I'm going to buy my first own iPhone. I get enough money and I get the iPhone 5s but I'm still
behind because the iPhone 7 is coming out sooner than later. Although once I really look at it, I
still have a phone that I paid for with my own money that does call, text, and has FaceTime.
Growing up in my generation I, as well my peers, ALWAYS focused on what's next and being in
with "society". However we should never lose sight of what really matters whether that's
watching a movie with your mom or playing a simple game of Uno with friends. Face to face
communication with someone who you would like to stay in contact with is a lot more meaningful than a couple texts.
