I stumbled upon my "Laguna Beach" DVD's a couple weekends ago and decided to give them another watch. I then proceeded to find all the episodes of "The Hills" and re-watch those. Suffice to say, I remembered why I've always been partial to Kristin Cavallari over Lauren Conrad.
While I don't hate LC, I do like Kristin a bit more. She just seems to get it, and I know I'm not the only one that thinks so. So without further ado, here are my reasons why I will always be rooting for KCav-Cavallari (thanks for the nickname, Stephen Colletti)!
1. Her LB lingo.
I swear the first time I saw this episode, I thought it was the funniest line in the world. And I may or may not have used it in sentences after that (don't judge me)!
2. Her drama (and on-and-off relationship) with Stephen.
I felt bad for her during their fights, especially the one on their trip to Cabo (when she was a junior and he was a senior). But, she served the sass right back at him, which made me appreciate her ballsy-ness. Rock on, Kristin.
3. Her sass.
She wasn't really one for sugarcoating things, which made it fun to see what she'd say next.
4. Often laced with expletives.
No words are necessary. #SoMuchSass
5. And again with the bluntness.
I remember watching this episode live. She really was just talking to Heidi when Audrina and Co. came at her because they thought she was with Audrina's ex-BF, Justin Bobby. But Kristin didn't back down or run scared. She fought back--hard. I wish I had that kind of kick-a** confidence sometimes.
6. She's not afraid to walk away from toxic people.
When Kristin was done with something or someone, you knew it. When it came to negative influences like friends, if you screwed her over, she would drop you like that. Her strength just to be like "F*** this, I'm over it" was refreshing to see in a world where other girls were being told to "try and make the friendship work" or whatever.
7. Her facial expression here.
I feel this on a spiritual level. I swear, I make this face almost every day without fail. You go, Kristin.
8. And here.
The queen of the eye roll, everybody. #AllHail
9. Oh, can't forget this moment. One hand motion said it all.
She is so over everything. Dunzo, as her 2004 self would put it.
10. She didn't let guys stress her out.
Whether it was Stephen, Brody or Justin Bobby, Kristin never let the guys get her down. Her LOL-ing at most of those moments was another thing I wish I could tell myself to do. You put in the effort, and they should too. She had a 'three strikes and you're out' mentality, which was something I desired to implement in my high school and college relationships. And if that guy doesn't turn out to be who you thought, well then in her words: "On to the next."
11. She would tell it like it is--and not be afraid to tell you so too.
From dealing with Jessica and Jason's constant makeup-breakup cycles in high school or keeping her cool when facing off with Brody or JB's crazy ex-girlfriends, she would stand up for herself and tell it how it went down--no matter what. Her brutal honesty sets her apart from the other MTV girls who didn't breach dramatic subjects at all. She's the ultimate truth-teller.
12. Her hair and makeup though. #Flawless.
The girl nailed natural and amped up beauty like no other. I mean, the sometimes-straight-sorta-wavy hair which could be pulled back into a flawless low ponytail? Stunning. Neutral makeup or a killer smokey eye when necessary? Absolutely yes.
13. And finally, Kristin herself can sum up why we all should be on her team.
She is one hundred percent herself. She's hilariously unapologetic about it, and has been since the early 2000's--and I love her for that.
So thank you, Kristin Cavallari for being one of my all-time favorite reality TV stars and for being my high school/college spirit animal. You're seriously awesome.
