This Is For The Teacher That Doesn't Want Kids

Not everyone is meant to be a parent and that's okay.

This Is For The Teacher That Doesn't Want Kids
Ashley Provaznik

My major is Early Childhood Education, I have two jobs: one at a center and one at a children's museum. Needless to say, I love kids. There's just one thing: I don't think I want any of my own.

I know that sounds crazy, like how could I, the woman that is going to be a teacher, not want kids of her own? Don't get me wrong, it is not like I have not thought about it, because I have. Parents I babysit for tell me all the time how I'll be a great mom someday; I just don't have the heart to tell them it might not happen. Every time they say how great of a mom I would be, I think about it and I think about how it would feel to have this little being that it half me and half the man I love. But then I think about all the negatives: I can barely afford my habits, how would I handle someone else's? That is so much responsibility, I hardly can handle the needs of my cat. Lastly, I will be with kids all day everyday, why would I want to come home to more?

People say, "Oh, it'll be different because they're your kids." I understand that, but here's the thing, I just do not think I am the type of person that should be a mom. Not everyone is meant to be a parent, and that's okay. Don't pressure me into this just because you think I will make a good mom, peer pressure is wrong, we all know that. Maybe when I get older, I will change my mind, but until then I am perfectly happy with being childless, so please stop judging me for it. Seriously, I don't even have a boyfriend people, calm down. Besides, if I become a mom, I might not be the cool aunt anymore.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
