Over the years, Taylor Swift has gone from country to pop artist and some may have forgotten her country lyrics. Here are a few songs where the lyrics still have a deep meaning even after all these years. These lyrics will never get old and will never be forgotten. I listened to these songs when I was 14-17 and now I'm 20 and can still relate completely to the lyrics.
1. Love Story
“Romeo save me, they try to tell me how to feel. This love is difficult, but it’s real. Don’t be afraid, we’ll make it out of this mess, It’s a love story, baby just say yes”
Everyone has that one boyfriend/girlfriend their parents didn’t like… this song is all about a “forbidden love,” and people can relate.
2. Begin Again
“I’ve been spending the last eight months, thinking all love ever does is break and burn and end. But on a Wednesday, in a café, I watched it begin again”
This song is completely relatable for anyone who has been hurt in a tragic break up. This is all about moving on after the pain and finding someone who shows you what love is again.
3. All too well
“Hey, you call me up again just to break me like a promise. So casually cruel in the name of being honest. I’m a crumpled-up piece of paper lying here and I remember it all, all, all…too well”
Taylor does a good job with capturing the feeling that most people have after a break-up. When you clench onto every bit of hope for the relationship working out, only to have it die down again.
4. You belong with me
“But she wears short skirts, I wear t-shirts. She’s cheer captain and I’m on the bleachers. Dreaming about the day when you wake up and find that what you’re looking for has been here the whole time”
There will always be that one person that you want but they may want someone else. You may begin comparing yourself to that person wondering what they have that you don’t. This song describes that relationship perfectly.
5. Fifteen
“When you’re 15, and your first kiss makes your head spin around. But in your life, you’ll do greater things than dating the boy on the football team. But I didn’t know it at 15”
This rings true today as I look back on my high school career and see that I thought dating a football player was the most important thing to happen to me. At age 15, one may jump at the thought of someone saying “I love you,” and believe it, even if it’s not true.
"When all you wanted was to be wanted, wish you could go back and tell yourself what you know now."
Retweet. Retweet. Retweet.
6. Forever and Always
“And I stare at the phone, he still hasn’t called and then you feel so low, you can’t feel nothing at all, and you flashback to when he said forever and always”
I think everyone can relate to this line… waiting for someone to call you back after a fight only to have the person not call back. You just sit there thinking about how they promised you forever and always and you try to convince yourself that he/she will call… and they don’t.
7. Come in with the Rain
“I could go back to every laugh, but I don’t want to go there anymore,”
This is the lyric of the song that hits me the hardest. Yes, I could think back to all of our laughs and great memories…. But it’s best that I don’t. This is when you realize you’ve moved on to better things and don’t need to focus on the past anymore.
