I know it’s a big decision. It’s a permanent addition to my body and it is expensive, and sometimes it fades and you have to get it redone. There are a lot of preconceived notions surrounding tattoos and some people are very judgmental, especially employers. I have heard one employer say that if she notices a tattoo on one of her candidates, their IQ drops in her mind. On top of limiting my job pool, my parents have promised to pull my tuition money if I get a tattoo before graduation, and I really can’t afford this by myself. So I won’t get a tattoo... not yet anyway. But there is one that I really want and have wanted for a while now.
It looks kind of dumb, just a stick figure on a trampoline, but I draw it on my hand whenever I need a pick-me-up and it makes me happy. Unfortunately, with just a pen, the tattoo wears away after I wash my hands but I wish it could stay. Am I worried about what my tattoo would say about me? No, because I know what it will say.
Trampoline Hand Man says: Lighten up and have fun!
When you’re jumping on a trampoline you don’t feel so heavy. It’s like you release all of your stress (and maybe a little pee) and just let go! It’s the coolest feeling when your guts are suspended in your stomach and you’re floating around in mid air with your limbs flailing around you. Your mind goes blank and you laugh a little because you can’t control anything up there. There’s no paper you could be writing, and there are no people you have to meet with; it’s just you time. So chillout and enjoy it!
Trampoline Hand Man says: Take risks within reason.
Jumping on a trampoline isn’t the safest thing to do, but if the weather permits and you don’t overdo it, the benefits of jumping outweigh the risk of bouncing off of the trampoline. Just because there is the possibility of getting hurt, doesn't mean you should be afraid to jump on the trampoline. If you didn’t jump, you’d never know how much fun a trampoline can be. The risk is worth it, if you risk responsibly.
Trampoline Hand Man says: Even the pad of skin below your pinky can have more than one purpose.
Sure, it’s most important function is to keep your insides, well, on the inside, but it can also be more fun than that! It can be an interactive, moving tattoo! It can be representative of fun and laughter and defying the laws of physics. Some might think it's just a pinky tattoo, I say it's a way of life.
Trampoline Hand Man says: Life is just too short to not have a trampoline on your hand if it makes you happy.
This body is just a body. It isn’t what makes me, me. The body will fade, the skin will get wrinkly, but I’ll still be the same person. Whether I have a tattoo of a person jumping on trampoline or if I just draw it on every day, I won’t be any different. The way people perceive me might change, but I’ll stay the same and if someone is too busy to get to know me and decides to label me as a simpleton because I have a trampoline hand, I probably don't want to know them anyway. If you have the means to do something that will make you happy, why not do it?
