Tattoos And Piercings: What's The Big Deal?

While I only have a few tattoos, all that are out of sight, I have heard time and time again people without tattoos talking bad about people who have tattoos or piercings.

Tattoos And Piercings: What's The Big Deal?

Why do people with visible tattoos and piercings get a bad rap? Just because someone has visible tattoos does not mean they are a bad person, nor are they yours to judge. Saying you don’t like tattoos is like saying you don’t like an entire art form, because yes, tattoos are art. People with tattoos have just as much right to go about their daily lives in peace, without having to deal with ignorant and insensitive questioning from a stranger. It is a choice that the person made to get what they have on their body, just like everything else they have on is. This runs the same with clothing or hairstyle; those aren’t yours to comment on either, so why do people think it is okay to comment on tattoos?

People assume that everyone with tattoos or piercings are deviant members of society, and that they are rebellious or have been in prison. People will start to make assumptions about a person's entire life once they've seen their tattoos or piercings. Tattoos are personal, and people get them for different reasons. Some people get tattoos because they like how they look, while others get them as a memory of something, either good or bad.

I've heard it so many times before: "How do you expect to get a job with that on your arm?" "Are you still going to like that in 10 years?" Lady, it's none of your business what my future holds for me. It's not like you're going to be around when I'm going for that job, and I sure as hell am not going to know you in ten years, so just let me check out my groceries in peace.

I don't understand why people try to be so involved in someone else's life like that. If they want to get a full sleeve, stop telling them that it's not a good idea, or ask them how they expect to get a job with something like that on their arm. It's their life and their choice, bottom line.

Whether or not you agree with or like tattoos, it is not your business to judge their art. Tattooed people don't go around questioning why everyone doesn't have more tattoos, so why is it okay for it to be the other way around? Think before you judge someone – that tattoo represents something special to them.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
