Tattoos are becoming more and more commonplace and acceptable in society today. You can't go more than a few feet without seeing someone without at least a little bit of ink. But, with the increase of tattooed individuals, the number of people who are intrigued by them has increased as well. Sometimes they are warranted, but other times they are just completely uncalled for. Here are a few of the frequently asked questions that people with tattoos are tired of hearing.
1. Is that real?
It washes off actually. All the detail was achieved with a temporary tattoo.
2. Did it hurt?
Not at all. It felt great actually. Several needles piercing my skin at the same time sounds great to me.
3. Can I touch it?
Go for it. Just grab the rest of my body while your at it. It all feels like skin anyway.
4. How much did it cost?
Are you really asking that? Why does it matter to you? One million dollars if I'm being quite honest.
5. What does it mean?
Unless you'd like a dissertation on why I decided to get my tattoos, and why they are in those places, I suggest you change the subject. Neither of us have that kind of time.
6. What do you mean you "just" like it? It has to have a meaning.
Oh, I'm sorry. I didn't realize you were the tattoo police. I'll get right on tailoring the meaning just for you.
7. Can I show you mine?
8. Who does your tattoos — can I have their number?
I'll tell you who does them, but there's this magical thing called Google where you can get the shop's number and set up your own appointment.
9. Aren't you worried what you'll look like when you get old?
Age only gives my tattoos character. They'll still look just as amazing as they did the way I got them. Why do you care so much?
Plus, my grandkids will know me as the cool grandpa.
I made a commitment to have these pieces of art on my body forever. It can teach an important lesson about following through with the choices you make in life.
10. What about getting a job? What if you don't get hired?
Well, not every open position is as concerned about my tattoos as you are, so I think I'll be fine.
11. How do you know if you'll still like your tattoos later in life?
I don't. That's the joy of it. A tattoo is a snapshot of my life at the time. So when I'm on my death bed I can recall all my tattoos: the good, the bad, and the ugly.
12. How do they affect how people look at you?
My tattoos don't define me. I'm a person, and I have tattoos. There is no correlation. If anything, they are an icebreaker for conversation. No one really hates tattoos.
