You are my people.

Everyone has their person, but I have my people. These people have been with me through all of life's obstacles that every college kid has experienced.

To my people: You were there for the endless nights of studying for a test I didn't get the grade I wanted. You were there to hear me complain about my professors and how they make horrible tests. You agreed with me even though we all knew I should've studied just a little more. Thank you for letting me vent about all of my daily and life problems.

In just two months, I have met my college friends who have turned into my second family. I could never thank them enough for all that they do for me and the support they have given. I love our late night talks when everyone comes into my room and we just talk about everything and anything. I love the times we go on late night drives and sing our hearts out to 2000's pop music. I am always ready for the get food and drive type of nights.

I truly am blessed to have such an amazing friend group. Coming into college, I wasn't expecting to have met so many unique individuals that I get to call my chosen family. You all are the first people I go to whenever I get a good grade on a test or when I'm having a bad day. You don't sugar coat things; you know what I need to hear even if I don't want to hear it. I can't thank you enough for putting up with me. I know that I'm not the easiest person to be around at times, but I'm glad you all stuck around.

Being away from home has been hard on all of us and we all get homesick. Even when I go home, a part of me is still back here at Western, wishing I was with you all. I love the times when we all go out together. I love our dinner and brunch dates that we go on and I love studying in my room together. These are the memories that I will cherish forever. Each and every one of you has impacted my life in a positive way. I can't ever thank you enough for everything.

Tanner 13 has been one of the parts of college so far. I wouldn't wanted to experience college without you all. Freshman year is almost halfway over and I can't wait to see what the next three and a half years bring us. I know I will have all of you by my side. I always saw how great college was and how people make long-lasting friends in movies and TV shows. I never thought I could meet such wonderful people I get to call my family.

Thank you for supporting me. Thank you for accepting me and all of my flaws that come with. Thank you for picking me up when I've hit rock bottom. Thank you for buying me chocolate and junk food when I'm upset. Thank you for being my best friends and now, my family. Thank you for loving and caring for me. Most of all thank you for being you.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
