Why It Takes Forever For Girls To Get Ready

I was only singing into my brush for an hour, I swear!

Getting ready for a night out, a date, or even just for the day takes girls forever. Guys know the struggle of the wait, because it takes them 30 minutes tops to get ready, and girls take three hours to get ready. But it’s really not our fault that we take so long. We have this stereotype of ourselves that it takes so long to get ready. Yes, stereotypes are not always true, but at least for me, there's some truth.

1. The Eyeliner Struggle

    • You have the perfect winged liner on one eye, but when you have to do the other eye, it becomes a problem. It's too thick to match the other eye, so then you have to fix the perfect wing so it's as thick as the other. But now that wing is too thick, and you just go back and forth until you look like a panda and need to start over.
  • 2. Playing Music

  • We all do it. You put on your good pre-game music and just jam while you do your makeup and hair. Then your favorite song comes on ("Perfect" by One Direction) and you're singing into your hairbrush, makeup brush, or curling iron. This jam session can go on for while. Like, a whole album type-of-later.

  • False Lashes
God bless those girls who can put them on perfectly. But for those who can’t, I feel your pain. When you think the lash glue is tacky enough that you can put them on, they aren’t. Then when you think you got them, you don’t.

  • Doing Your Hair

I lucked out with my hair, because all I have to do is blow dry and then straighten or curl it. But for the girls out there who have to blow dry, straighten, and then curl, I feel your pain.

  • No Clothes

I shop a lot, yet I have no clothes to wear out. It's truly a problem, because a girl’s room looks like a tornado hit when she's trying to find an outfit. And when you think you found a good, it actually doesn't look as good as it did in your head.

  • The Clothes Thief

“Where's my favorite shirt?” you ask yourself as you dig through everything in your room for 20 minutes. Then you scream this question to your sister or roommate. You find out that they had been wearing it the day before, or they're currently watching Netflix in it.

  • Shoes

This is always a dilemma for me. Which shoes should I wear with the outfit I finally picked out after destroying my closet? You send your friends pictures of both pairs, asking for an opinion.

  • After all the struggle, we're finally ready to leave the house. But not before we take 40 selfies to get the perfect one. I come across one of these dilemmas every once in awhile, and I’m pretty sure I’m not the only girl. We take a long time to get ready, not for guys or the pictures, but we do it for ourselves to feel confident!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
