How To Take Care Of Yourself Academically This Semester

It's not all about color-coded planners and studying until 4am, it's about making sure you're okay while still making those good grades.

It's truly saved my life. Whether it's the reminder app or the To Do app from Microsoft, it helps a ton. Maybe you don't have your planner on you, but you can use a to-do list app to help you remember what all needs to get done! Maybe you need to remember to do laundry tomorrow, or that you have a house tour in three days. Maybe you need to jot down every single literal thing that you need to do to survive the school day, so you feel accomplished and put together.

Crossing things off on your lists will bring you so much ease.

Keep A Planner Handy

Oh, I know. People are nuts about planners. All of the color coding, the cutesy drawings all over. You don't have to do that. You don't even need a paper planner. Writing things you need to do and important dates in pencil is just as good, and you don't have to worry about what it looks like. Assignments are good to keep track of in your planner, especially deadlines, and when you may have time to actually start on the assignment itself.

Use A To-Do List app.

Schedule In Personal Breaks

Scheduling your whole life is sometimes impossible, but what you can do is try to schedule times when you need a break when you need to lie down and relax. It is not healthy to work hard all day, every day and not relax for a bit of time. I would suggest sitting down in a comfy chair or couch for a good 45 minutes, at least!

Take Notes

We're all human, we forget things.! Whether it is kept online or in a notebook, it's nice to look back to and study things you may need to know in the future. Maybe visit a teacher or professor and take good notes then, too!

Keep Your Friends Close

You do not have to go through this alone. You might think closing yourself off from others will give you more time to do your work/assignments, but getting a study group together every once in a while is not a terrible idea. If you need help, ask a friend! If there's something wrong, don't keep it inside. Go to a friend and worry about that assignment in an hour, or when you're mentally ready to begin again. Do not torture yourself. Take care of yourself.

Your health, physical and mental, is extremely important. Your academics are, as well. But your project can wait a few more minutes if you're not well. Talk to someone, know when to take it easy, and take care of yourself.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
