From the sparkling water of the lake to the sleek white slopes, Lake Tahoe has it all. Located right next to the California-Nevada border, Tahoe is known for being an incredible spot, whose reputation is rightly earned. Regardless of the season, Tahoe's versatility as a vacation spot shows through there always being something new and fun to do, which is a huge reason why it's such popular destination to travel. Even as someone who has been to Tahoe numerous times, I have yet to become bored of vacationing there, which truly shows the multitude of various activities to take part in. Here are a couple of suggestions for things to do in Tahoe.
1. Hit the slopes during winter
Come December, the ski resorts of Tahoe begin opening for business. Whether you go to Sugar Bowl, Diamond Peak, or Squaw, you're bound to get some top notch powder. Each resort has their unique vibe to them, just right for skiers and snowboarders all across the spectrum of skill. Even if you're starting to learn or a complete veteran, the ski resorts have a wide range of slopes suitable for all levels. For Diamond Peak, be sure to snap the view you get when getting to the top of the mountain, it dons a near panoramic view of the lake and rest of the resort.
2. Hike trails during the summer
If snow isn't your thing, the same slopes used for the resorts are often used as hiking trails. There's no one trail that everyone specifically goes to, and that's because all of them happen to be incredibly beautiful. From small natural pools to waterfalls, hiking the trails always surprises newcomers with the all the elegance nature has to offer.
3. Concerts
Since Tahoe is such a popular vacation spot, it's no surprise that many concerts are held to support the nightlife. The well known venues throughout Tahoe are, for the most part, incredibly big, allowing for organizers to host huge events. For example, for the last couple days of 2015 an event called Snow Globe, a gigantic end-of-the-year EDM festival, was hosted. You can expect that Tahoe always has some big headliners coming out during the month of your vacation, so be sure to check the events out.
4. Chilling on the Lake
Although much more well known for the multitude of beaches open, sailing, jet skiing and boogie boarding are only a couple of activities available. Everything necessary to go out on the water can be rented and is definitely worth the cost. Don't forget to bring your camera, it's inevitable there will be at least one picture you will have wanted to take to capture nature's charm. The lake is a perfect place to simply relax, get your tan on, and enjoy all of Tahoe's natural beauty.
