As we wake up each morning, we think that today it just another day. We perform our regular routine of sleep, eat, work, repeat, without even thinking about it. Even the way we do our hair and the clothes we wear become the same. We believe that blending in is better than stick out. You see the same people and perform the same tasks, and that having a regular day is better than the chance of having a bad one. We lose our spunk and vitality that we had as a child, but is that really a way to live?

I was thinking about the phrase "actions speak louder than words." While I understand the idea behind it, I think that words speak just as loudly as actions. Words and actions go hand in hand with one another.

When you say something to someone, what are your intentions in using words? Words can be used to give someone reassurance, or to tear them down. A lack of words can do the same thing. Words are the abstract, intangible way of expressing how we feel, and what we are thinking. We find solace and peace in words, while other times it has us questioning ourselves and others.

And, here we go again. Seriously, do we have to talk about this? Really, another racist debate here at our "wonderful" university? OUr university? "Oh my God, I can't believe it," said nobody ever. After the Sigma Alpha Epsilon incident in 2015, and the Tri-Delta blackface event last year, you get desensitized to all of this. As of now, Feb. 13, 2020, if you type the "n-word" into Google, we literally fill the top stories of the page again. I mean, after spending so much time, effort, and money (not that we have a lot, but okay) on diversity training, we might have expected for the campus to be at least a little bit more aware. NOPE. But hey, at least it wasn't the students' fault (this time). Now, I'm not going through news you can Google for, but hey, let's have an honest discussion:
