You can't, you just can't. Nothing works, so just throw it up in a messy bun and look homeless all summer.
Is it even possible?
You can't, you just can't. Nothing works, so just throw it up in a messy bun and look homeless all summer.
For those days when your natural hair just doesn't cut it.
If you're anything like me, you don't wash your hair every day. There's a void in the week that only dry shampoo can fix, and some days it's still bleak. These hairstyles are perfect for when you're running late to class, work, or just need a change up to your look for that day!
The perfect way to end your high school experience.
From expensive updos, flower corsages, to Sherri Hill dresses; prom is a major high school event for most teenage girls. Many people could tell you that it's just a waste of money, while others can easily say it's worth every penny.
Prom is a once in a lifetime experience where you get the chance to dress up and make lifelong memories with your high school friends. Coming from someone who pretty much wears sweatpants six out of seven days of the week, it's not every day where you have an excuse to curl your hair and get dressed in a long, fancy gown. Prom is an event where every teenage girl deserves to unapologetically dress up and feel beautiful in her own skin.
Since there are so many ranges of prom preparation lists, you don't have to do everything. While things like false eyelashes, acrylic nails, and spray tans are important to some girls, they are less essential for others. Although riding in a limo to prom would be really cool, you can also just ride in the back of your parent's Honda.
Something I personally love about prom is seeing people get asked in such extravagant ways. "Promposals" are so exciting because many people put a lot of effort into thinking of creative and elaborate ideas. When someone asks another person to be their date to prom in such a fun way, it really makes the whole experience even more special.
Prom should be a special night for teens, but it is not the most important day of their lives. No one should feel pressured or like a "loser" if they choose not to go. It's OK to not attend prom. Tickets can be overpriced, typical prom dresses cost a lot, and all of the other expenses add up. However, you should keep in mind that you don't need to spend a thousand dollars on prom. Not everyone feels the need to get their hair, makeup, and nails done; lots of people do it all themselves!
Prom is a night to take fun pictures, hang out with friends, maybe to coordinate with a date, and even involve your parents. Although some people go to prom more than once, it's really just one night of your life. It doesn't have to be a waste of time. And if you don't have fun, then you obviously don't have to do it again. At least you can look back and say you tried.
It doesn't matter if you don't have a date or a brand new dress. Your hair may not be perfect, the music may not be amazing, and you might not get to slow dance with someone; but at least you'll get to experience an unforgettable night. Once high school is over, so are your chances of going to prom. People who don't experience it will probably end up regretting it later on in life. I, for one, would say that prom is 100% worth going to at least once.
I grew up with the idea in mind that straight hair was the most beautiful hair because that's what the media was telling me.
For those of you that know me, you know that I have insane hair. It's different textures, it's dark brown (borderline black), it's unruly, it's always knotted, it's always frizzy, there's so much of it, I can never control it, and I shed more than my dog did. But, despite its many many flaws, I still love my hair, although it hasn't always been that way.
When I was younger, I had beautiful hair. It was soft instead of coarse, it looked healthy and shiny, and, dare I say, it was even kind of straight (it still had a few kinks here and there). I didn't have to go to a special hairdresser and I didn't have to spend a bunch of money on fancy products that say that they'll "fix" my hair.
My hair started to change around fifth grade when I started to straighten it. I think that's what really threw my hair over the edge because I would straighten it without putting protective product in and now, some 8 years later, I can see and feel the difference between the hair that I used to straighten all the time and the hair that I left alone. One of the reasons why I straightened my hair was because I didn't love it. I grew up with the idea in mind that straight hair was the most beautiful hair because that's what the media was telling me. But, as I got older, I realized that I was being an idiot and that all hair (and a lack thereof) is beautiful.
Now, because of my 5th-grade self and mentality, part of my hair will always be heat damaged, but I don't see that as an issue. The damaged parts of my hair are a constant reminder to myself to love my hair, even if it is a mess. I stopped trying to control it and let it do its own thing. The most styling I'll ever do is put it in a bun, or a ponytail, and, on special occasions, I'll braid it or have one of my friends braid it (I have so much hair my arms get tired from braiding).
Even though my hair isn't like how it used to be, it's still beautiful. I might even say I love it more than my younger self's hair as it's representative and part of my journey of self-love because learning to love my hair also meant learning to love who I am.
These little things you do are what makes guys go nuts for you.
As a woman, sometimes we are pressured to intentionally try to appear sexy or do things to turn guys on. However, the little things we do without thought work just as well as your secret flirting tricks...
Here are the subtle things girls do the trick:
Have fun, be optimistic and laugh. Guys like to see you when you are genuinely happy. Myles B., a student at East Carolina University said, "I like when a girl is always smiling and is optimistic, it makes her look more fun and easy going." Seeing you let loose and not care what others think makes him want to get to know you more. When you smile, it makes him want to smile.
As they say, smiling is contagious.
When you are having a bad hair day and you just give up on leaving it down you throw it up into a ponytail or a messy bun. You may think it is sloppy and a sign you did not take that extra thirty minutes to do your hair that morning, but guys love this. The way you zone out in frustration, putting your hair up is cute to them. Letting those fly away pieces graze down your neck and sides of your cheek are the cutest to him.
Just when you have gotten lost in thought and you start fiddling with your hair, you may peep a cutie staring at you from a distance. Eliud M., a student at University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill said, " I always notice when a girl is being playful and messes with her hair. So that definitely gets my attention."
Guys find attraction in the little things we do when we are not thinking about it. As you twirl your hair, he is admiring the way each piece of your hair falls, wondering what you are thinking about, and does he have a shot at getting your number.
There are a couple forms of biting your lips. First you have got the seductive slow lip bite and the lip biting habit when you nibble the outer corner of your lips. Either is fine, both are cute and will make him look down at how plump and perfect your lips look. You might not even bite your lip, but touching, sliding something past your lips like a straw will all draw him in.
"When girls bite their lip or when you guys take pictures where your lips are the focus is hot. It may sound weird, but I think it's like a thirst trap," said DJ, a student at East Carolina University.
If you have a particular topic you are passionate about, guys love that. Whatever it is that you can go on and on about, guys love to see that there is something you deeply care about. While they like a girl who looks good and does cute things, having a passion is just as necessary.
"I always like to see a girl stand up for what she believes in, that passion, it's something different," said DJ.
Putting on lip gloss goes two ways, you are in a rush and run it across your lips as quick as you can or you are slowly taking it one lip at a time. Slowly applying lip gloss gets a guy daydreaming about your lips and admiring soft sheen you just added to them. The little pucker everyone does right after applying is the icing on the cake.
A little smart mouth ain't never hurt nobody, it's only made teachers upset and turned guys on. A smart mouth helps build up that sexual tension and playful flirting. Guys like a little sass, the like to know you an stand up for yourself and can handle tough situations.
"When she talks shit and has a smart mouth, yeah, I like that," said Myles.
This does not go for everyone. We all can come to the same consensus that sneezing is not cute, at all. However there are some that were blessed with tiny cute sneezes that sound like baby kitten. Less of a turn and more of an "aww how adorable."
Little sneezes such as this are priceless.
Don't be a hoodie or hat thief, but do know that your guy does like to catch you wearing his big shirt or dad hat. Shawn B., at North Carolina State University said, "I like to see my girl in something of mine. I guess it's like marking my territory without having to physically do anything."
The way his shirt hangs right below the booty is just what he wants to peep. He finds it just as cute when you can take something of his and style it where it looks like it was meant to be yours anyway.
Similar to having a passion, guys like to see you being focused. When you are deep into watching your favorite series or movie, they like seeing your eyes pierce through the screen with your body as still as can be. It is cute to watch how tunnel vision you get when you are interested in something.
The majority of girls or girlfriends don't know how to play the games our guys like to play, and if we do, often times we suck. If you can keep up with the competition, or even beat him at his favorite games, you share something not many people have and he loves that. Shawn said, "It's cute and all, but don't piss me off winning everything. You can't be more into games than me, I don't like that."
If you don't know how to play, he will appreciate it even more if you put forth effort to try. Knowing how to play his games is like having a tattoo only he can see, it's you both secret and loves that you have it.
Now that you know what to do, don't try so hard to be sexy. If a guy wants you, he will make his move.
There are way too many different types of braids.
One of my favorite rabbit holes to fall down in Pinterest is the many gorgeous hair tutorials and photos. Although I'd like to think I'm pretty good at doing my own hair, these are on a whole new level that I can only dream of achieving.
This is a hairstyle worthy of royalty. It seems simple enough in the beginning- make three braids, easy. But somehow I feel like me wrapping those three braids together will definitely not result in that last image, but instead endless knots and disappointment.
This is so pretty and looks effortless. I just get lost. So I braid part of my hair and pin it where? And then I wrap it back around?
Even though I would love to look like a mermaid, this style has a lot of necessary skills. First, you assume I am about to put the effort into curling my hair only to put it back in a braid. Next, I have to tuck it into a braid? At this point, I'm just going to leave my hair down.
This is chic and pretty, but I have a hard enough doing a braid right-side up, so thanks but no thanks Pinterest.
This woman looks like a fairy with these three hair flowers at the back of her head. But my question is how perfectly do you have to pancake these braids to make them look like roses instead of random lumps of hair?
The perfect hair for a date or night out, but there's no way this was made by human hands (or at least amateur hands like mine).
It looks flawlessly chic, but if you think I could possibly make a fishtail that goes all the way around my head you are wrong.
Between the color of this woman's hair and her long, multi-braided hair, this look is gorgeous. It's just something about successfully making two different types of braids in the back of my hair where I can't see them that I find a little unrealistic.
This look is formal and simply gorgeous, which means it definitely took a lot of work. My guess would be a lot of bobby pins and curling your hair to get it to stick in the bun like that. Between that and the braid, I think I'll leave this one to the professionals.
This is a perfect spring look with the floral accessories and colored hair. However, I wouldn't have the slightest idea how to make space buns that turn into braids.
