We all have someone in our lives that has some form of ailment. But if you are old, or have a per-existing condition, you are systematically being eliminated without any chance of survival. Yes, history is always repeating itself, and this time it's called "affordable health care". To speak on the pros of this statement, I will tell you my story.
In 2011, I was rushed to the hospital, which turned out to be a ruptured gallbladder. I had emergency surgery, which would be followed by twelve more surgeries to follow, due to complications from the first. I had to have 13 pic-lines and 4 surgical meshes, not counting the visceral hernia - one blocked and one twisted intestine. The bottom line is that these procedures were very costly. I am retired, so my income is fixed. Had it not been for the original Affordable Care Act, I would have reached my demise long ago.
Recently I was put on a drug called Harvoni. Now, I looked this drug up. It is the most expensive pill in the world at the cost of $1,000.00 a pill. The required treatment is ninety days in duration, which totals $90,000.00. Without this drug, I would have died for sure.
Back to the present. Now, our Congress and our President has thrown out the Affordable Health Act, "replacing" it with something that is next to nothing to cover people such as myself - never mind those that must have stabilizing medicines or ongoing treatments for the rest of their lives? All life is sacred - except when the living need medical care that is outside of their income restraints, then they are thrown to the wolves. It's a systematic genocide of our country's aged and ailing. I saw a thriller film called Soylent Green once, where when people got too sick and had pricey illnesses, they were deemed no longer viable for living. They were manipulated into believing everything was fine and great, but then they too were annihilated. I remember reading somewhere that a selected group of people were convinced into taking a nice shower, and it turned out to be gas chambers. Need I say more? We cannot let ourselves be manipulated.
Hubert Hoover, the 31st president of America, once said, "If you vote for me I will put a chicken in every pot and a car in every garage."
But most people are still waiting for that day of equality to come.
