The Arab spring sparked many revolutions in the Middle East. Countries like Egypt, Libya and Yemen have all experienced revolutions. Citizens of Syria also had revolutionary goals in mind, but ever since the conflict sparked in 2011 it has only escalated into a bigger war since. The conflict in Syria has been going on for over four years, and it involves more and more countries. Big superpowers like Russia and the United States have put military efforts into Syria. Russia supports Assad the head of the government in Syria, and the US has supported several factions most notable the Syrian Kurds. More countries are involved in this conflict including several terrorist groups like ISIS and Jabhat al-Nusra. However the biggest factor affecting countries around the globe are the refugees in Syria seeking asylum. There are over four million Syrian refugees still seeking shelter, while countries like Turkey already have accepted almost two million Syrians, the border between Greece and Macedonia had escalated into a conflict between Syrians looking to pass the border and government trying to regulate the number of refugees passing the border.
Refugees from Syria are arriving all over the world: France, Argentina, a small number into the United States. This puts a huge strain on countries that cannot provide much if any support for these refugees and countries like Greece are asking for help in dealing with this issue. Syrian Refugees should be properly sheltered, they are escaping a war zone, and should not be treated like enemies, but as people who at no fault of their own have been put into terrible situations, and now need our help more than ever.
