I'm currently obsessed with the show "Gilmore Girls," starring Lorelai and Rory Gilmore mother and daughter dynamic duo. Going into the series, I had no idea what I was getting myself into but now I'm so glad I did. Everything about the Gilmore girls is hilarious, witty and heartwarming. They're so easy to relate to and they feel like they could genuinely be your next-door neighbors in Stars Hollow, Connecticut.

I haven't finished the entire series, but currently, I am on season 3 and Rory is choosing which college she will attend in the fall of her freshman year. This big life-changing event for her made me think about how funny these two would be on campus and how well they could actually describe many of the feelings and emotions I have been feeling all throughout my first-year college experience.

Surviving second semester is a task that is a little harder than it seems, surprisingly, but using Lorelei and Rory's wit and humor I felt I could explain some of the things I'm feeling during my first few weeks of second semester.

So, kicking off a brand new semester isn't the easiest thing in the world but I guarantee you'll be able to relate to the Gilmore girls' responses to some of second semester's hiccups.

1. When the first week of classes rolls around

2. When you're walking to your 8 a.m. you're not sure why you thought was a good idea looking like the spitting image of death

3. You finally get to go out with your BFFs after spending a month at home and another week in classes

4. Homework starts piling up, quizzes are coming up in the near future, and you're starting to question if you even have a brain anymore

5. You're still not completely used to dining hall food again after being able to eat whatever you wanted at home all break

6. It's Sunday night and you're trying not to spiral into a deep, dark depression about the upcoming week

7. It's Thursday night and all your friends are getting ready to go out and you have an exam at 8 a.m.

8. When you come back to your dorm after a long day of classes and bond with your friends about your equally sucky days

9. Your friend met the "guy of her dreams" at the frat party last weekend and you're trying to explain how bad he is for her but she won't listen

10. It snowed and you're more excited for your friends from California who have never seen snow than they are to see it

11. On your way to class, you completely eat it on the ice and are mad at the world

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
