A guide for college freshmen.

5 Tips For Finals Week
Different Science

To all the freshman that don't know how to finals... the week you are about to endure is nothing like you've experienced before. It's not like when you took your finals in high school and could leave class early and come home to your mom making you a sandwich. In fact, it is the complete opposite. You're literally all on your own with no one to tell you how to study, or when to go to sleep. You will cry. No matter how strong you are, something will make you cry. You will stay up all night studying, and you won't care about your outfit for the whole next week and trust me, no one else will either. So here are a few steps to make your stressful sleepless week just a tad bit easier.

Coffee.

Coffee is without a doubt your best friend. Whether or not it's to wake you up in the morning, or keep you up until the morning (yikes) drink as much as you can! I suggest going to Dutch Bro's. They have the 911 drink which has a lot of espresso shots. Trust me you'll need it.

Friends!

You will need your friends more than anything this week. Find a time that you can study with them, or pull all-nighters together so you don't actually go crazy. You might actually learn some new things about their dog Sally or their last make-out session, who knows. Either way, it's also a good time to get some last BFF loving in before you leave each other for the inevitably hot summer.

Flashcards.

Why? Because I will never forget making over 50 long and well-thought-out flashcards on Quizlet only for them all to get deleted. Fun times. Not only that but they say writing things down helps you remember them better. Flashcards are the best.

Try to sleep.

I know it's hard when you have three exams, a final essay, a PowerPoint to make, emails to write to your professors that your grades are in fact, super important to you and that you actually did show up to class once or maybe twice (whoops), but lack of sleep can make you sick, and even does some weird things to your brain. You don't want that during the week when you need to be in tip-top shape the most.

Support.

Having a stable support system during the week where you think you might actually go insane is extremely important. Whether it's sending a text to your mom, balling your eyes out to your roommates that you think you just failed (when you really got an 87 percent) having someone there to lift you up when you think life is over will actually be the most important part of finals week.

So there you have it, folks. If I had known these things when I was a freshman, then I probably wouldn't have lost those 50 Quizlet cards, or thought it was cool to stay up for 36 hours before a presentation. Happy studying!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
