Throughout your college career, there will be many trials and tribulations that seem to endlessly stack upon each other with no end. Professors ordering their students to study for final exams, worrying about your GPA, stressing over internships and what classes to sign up for is simply maddening at times!
Since college can be a giant ocean of stress, what are your coping methods? Some people prefer to get out and relax by partying, drinking, smoking, and maybe even getting into trouble. While these coping mechanisms work, obviously, they are not ideal for your mental or physical health. Being in a clear state of mind is crucial to moving forward and not ending up in a rut of depression and anxiety, no one wants that!
Everyone loves music and anyone who says otherwise is lying. Perhaps obvious, music can help either heighten or suppress your emotions and mood. If someone is full of anger they may not want to listen to classical Beethoven, sadness may not correlate to Pharell Williams "Happy", and being in a good mood can be ruined by hearing a song about heartbreak. That being said, what if we reverse the purpose of music? Instead of aiding to a certain mood and matching well with it, use it to propel yourself into a better state of mind!
If you're not a Reggae fan, fond of rock music, or enjoy classical composures, give it a try because it may just be your secret key to dealing with your stress!
