Last Monday, I started my first week of college. It felt like a bit of a roller coaster ride because I did not know what was going to happen next. Would I get along with my classmates? Is the teacher going to make my life a living hell? Where is my class again? All these thoughts were rolling through my mind on Sunday night.
Just in case you were wondering, I did successfully complete my first week of college and I came out alive. However, throughout the course of the week I had mixed emotions, and new thoughts came to my mind:
1. What do I wear on my first day? Do people still like to buy new clothes to wear on the first day?
2. Where is my class again? Shoot, I better leave now before I get stuck in elevator traffic!
3. OMG! I should have left 5 minutes earlier. Now I'm going to be late. Can't these elevators move faster?
4. Where should I sit? Should I introduce myself to the people sitting around me? What are they thinking? Wow, we have a lot of common. We are instant BFFs!
5. Professor: "Okay class lets go around introducing ourselves. Who wants to go first?" Me: Please don't make eye contact with the teacher, please don't make eye contact! Damn it! Now I have to go first!
6. What!?!? Homework already? Don't we get a break? 2 and 1/2 months of no homework weren't enough.
7. Why is college so hard? I don't want to read a 25 page excerpt, or write a 10 page paper, or study for a final exam this semester!
8. I am hungry! What time is this class over? OMG, another hour left!
9. Should I be writing this stuff down? *starts writing* 20 seconds later, the professor changes the slide. There goes my A on the final!
10. Yaaaaassss, I have free time before my next class. I need a nap right about now! This is too much for my body to handle all in one day!
I am excited to see what my first year at The New School has in store and looking forward to building some amazing relationships with my professors and classmates!
