Why We Don't Find Support In Familiar Faces?

We tend to see strangers support us more than friends and family.

We often notice that no matter what we do there will always be people that don't want to see us achieve our goals. There is a saying that people want to see us do well, just not better than them. It's a sad saying but very true. Whether you want to be a photographer, a musician, or actor. People will tell you to chase your dreams and do what you love. Your so-called friends will halfway support you and tell you they believe in you just in case you ever make it big. Most of the time they don't genuinely care about your dream or want to see you succeed. Most people who have made it in multiple industries where it takes fans and other people to build your popularity have moved away from home. Far away from familiar faces, almost like a fresh start.

Moving away and getting a fresh start can be good for anyone who has big dreams. Whether we want to admit it or not, trying to live out your dreams at home is very hard. There are always distractions, whether it is relationships or family. It is hard to be around people who know you and trying to do something that everyone doesn't agree with. When you know in the back of your head that people don't really support what you're doing or believe in it, it is hard to give it your all. From personal experience, I know this for a fact. I used to make music and it was hard to be completely into it when people thought of it as a joke or something that wasn't a real profession. I eventually quit music, sometimes I wish I didn't. I had a lot of people at home taking what I loved to do as a joke or saying I never could. Once I went away to college, I found so many people that wanted to see me do well in music but by that time I had lost my passion.

If you truly love something or doing something, you should never stop no matter what people say or think. The best way to find support is to find a place where no one knows who you are or your background. You will have a fresh start and all people can judge you on is your talent. Whether it is making music, acting, or whatever you want to do. Does not matter, move away from all of the negativity and the people telling you can't and you definitely will with some hard work and dedication.

It is hard to find people that will truly support you no matter where you are or where you go. It is not impossible though. As long as you show people you are serious and keep at it people will take you seriously and you will build a fan base. Building a fanbase in professions that you need fans for can be the hardest part of the job but once you have done it it is very rewarding. Go out there and live your dream, don't give up no matter what anyone says.

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
