12 is my lucky number and I always dreamed of having some super abilities that others would be so jealous of. So I come up with this idea to do a little sum-up for my dreams that will probably never come true.

1. Control weather

My favorite season is probably autumn because the wind is just blowing so nicely and gently that I don't feel cold at all. The sun's not so fierce as well. I can wear whatever I want to wear, either short dresses or long coats. I always wanted to stay in autumn when it gets too hot or too cold.

2. Eat without gaining weight

https://giphy.com/gifs/thismightget-grace-helbig-k5A7sCbSEE3U6QzTcx

I believe this is an ability every woman is dying to have. Some people have already managed to do that and won't call it as a super power. But I mean really eat a lot because I would give my whole life to food no joking. I can eat all day if I won't gain weight.

3. Immediate make-up

https://giphy.com/gifs/lady-gaga-ariana-grande-kyary-pamyu-eO3V8dApQNJ96

If I could have this ability, all I have to do in the morning is to snap my finger and my make-up is done. I can sleep 1 more hour in the morning and don't have to rush to school everyday. I just can't go out without any make-up on.

4. Put others to sleep

https://giphy.com/gifs/black-and-white-gifmovie-9MRb9srdAuCNq

Sometimes when I get so tired of people speaking of the world or bragging about something, all I wish I could do was to make them sleep and they can shut their mouth that way.

5. Recognize danger

https://giphy.com/gifs/danger-mMJygtkZIpu6Y

This is an ability I really want to have because I can know what potential danger there will be. That way I can prevent others and myself from going through it and let anything bad happen to us.

6. Talk to anything related to the kitchen

https://giphy.com/gifs/narvesenlt-coffee-mug-narvesen-angry-d2Zfly9C6PV0E36w

I'm a sucker when it comes to cooking. I really wish I could be the kind of person that can manage everything in the kitchen so systematically and orderly like they can actually talk to the appliances and ingredients. If I could have this superpower, I'll definitely use a lot of time to make good connections and relationships with these kitchen appliances and let them help me when I want to cook a fabulous meal for my family.

7. Remember anything I saw only once

https://giphy.com/gifs/thegirlfriendexperience-3o6oziuA28BBlfpRkc

I'm really a forgetful type when I see something that I thought was not important, but later it becomes super important. I've been through this situation for many times. For example, on a daily basis, I just forget where I put my own iPhone all the time. There was one time that I spent nearly one hour finding it in my apartment, which I thought I lost it.

8. Go back through time

There were a lot of decisions and things I did that I thought I could have done better. I'm don't regret anything I have done, but I just want to see what else may happen if I made different choices and decisions, and how my life would change because of that.

9. Instant travel

Because my family lives in China and I study in America, I can't go back to China every week when I miss them. All I can do is to video chat with them and see them through the screen. Honestly, that feels bad sometimes, especially when I see my American friends posting their parents and grandparents. If I have this ability, I can go back to see them whenever I want.

10. Stay at 18 forever

18 is my favorite age because I started to live in America by myself and explore all the crazy things that I had no idea of before. I remember the curiosity of seeing the whole new world and culture that was so unfamiliar to me before. I wish I could stay at that age forever and be an energetic explorer forever.

11. Read others' mind

This is a very cliché super power but a very useful one. Who doesn't want to know what others think? That just makes things much easier and transparent in a lot of ways.

12. Leave that to my future self

Giphy

That's all I can think of for now because I'm really satisfied with my life now. Probably in the future, when I get old and experience more things, I'll see things more differently and want to add one from a much more mature perspective.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
