"Time flies when you're having fun." It's one of those expressions you've heard your entire life. You've also heard the expression, "Work hard, play hard." I never knew how true either of those expressions were until moving home from college.
For most college students, summer is about half way over. It feels like it just started though. If you think about it, the first summer session for is over and the second summer session has already begun. Finical aid reward package notifications are waiting to be approved and accepted. Summer feels like it is already over, when there are plenty of days left to play and have fun. Summer's not over just yet.
Spend time enjoying your summer!
1. Find a local pool that is relatively cheap. Local pools will often times give you a discounted price if you live within the city or the county of the pool. There is also a chance that if you live in a neighboring county that you could obtain a similar discount.
2. Go to a sporting event. Even if you don't live near a major league or a minor league baseball team, there are always local sport teams that will take your support! No matter what sport or what age group the players are, fans make the experience of playing better.
3. Go to the movie theater or to a drive in. Movies, no matter where you see them, are a great way to connect with different people. They can start conversation or even be a way for you to work up the nerve to talk to someone new.
4. Go on a road trip to surprise some college pals. Make it a weekend long event. Pick up one friends who lives closest to you and drive all over the state to drop in on those friends you haven't seen in a month or so.
5. Go on a spur of the moment weekend getaway. Take a friend or two (or even go by yourself) and just go. Pick a small place that's not too far away and get a hotel/motel room for a few nights. Go and sight see in the area you pick and just get lost. You'll feel refreshed like you went away on a fancy vacation.
6. Have a night out with some of your old friends. Go out to eat and paint the town red. Go do what you did in high school, make new memories.
7. Go to an amusement park. Indiana is lucky to be relatively close to several of amusement parks. Holiday World & Splashing Safari, King's Island and Cedar Point are all a few hours away. They aren't as expensive as places like Disney World and there are hotels near by.
Don't wait until the last minute to enjoy your summer.
Summer has always been one of the best times of year, but sometimes people forget to enjoy it while it's longer and not ending. If you wait until the last moment, you'll feel rushed while trying to slowly get ready for your next semester. Don't rush through your last few weeks because you didn't enjoy the entire break. It won't be as fun, it'll just be stressful.
