Every year summer comes around and we immediately think of things we are going to do. Actually, if you are anything like me you plan things to do during the summer the entire year. Then when summer comes around you end up only completing three out of the thirty-seven things you wanted to do. This summer I decided to “wing it”. I went in with an open mind and no plans; this summer has been extremely spontaneous. I want to share with you guys the things I have done this summer.
1. Pensacola Beach, Florida
If I told you we planned out our beach trip I would be lying. A friend of mine that was stationed at a Marine base there who told me to come visit. So three days later I packed my bags and invited some friends. It rained the entire time and the water was ice-cold but guess what? We made the best of it and had an excellent time!
2. Kayaking!
Seriously, this was one of the most enjoyable things I have done. It was a blast! Two friends came in from out of town, which I have not seen in a year, and we decided to do something none of us have done before. We stayed in town (Beech Fork Marina) and made new memories while reminiscing on old ones.
3. Cincinnati Zoo
I have been to this zoo multiple times and I can never get enough of it. Especially considering that the day we went it was only one dollar. I had less than twelve hours to make this happen and we did. It was amazing! There was a baby monkey who spent fifteen minutes with us against the glass looking at his reflection on my phone camera. It was the sweetest thing I have ever seen. My life is complete, and blessed!
4. Dick’s Last Resort Restaurant (Newport, Kentucky)
I am almost sure everyone has heard of this restaurant. I had never been so as a last minute birthday celebration for my childhood friend Lexi, we decided to pop in and get food. I knew what to expect but I did not think I was going to love it as much as I did. Our waitress was fantastic (her name was “Cupcake”) and the food was delicious. I had a blast!
5. The Cincinnati Belle Dinner Cruise
This trip was planned for the most part but still spontaneous with the doings and the guests. At the last minute I invited two people and we boarded the boat. There was dinner, live entertainment, and pure beauty all around. There is nothing like a delicious dinner, a bottle of wine, and good music.
Even though my summer was not thought out and planned, it has been amazing and I can only imagine what is to come before summer is over. I think that this summer has been one of the best for me. I never know what I am going to get myself into but I know it will be fun and memories made. That is all I wanted to do this summer, and I definitely have. I hope that your summer was and is as fun as mine.
