I'll be there for you

As summer is now coming to a close (as the tears fall) and are preparing for the upcoming school year, why not take some time to reflect on how wonderful these past few months have been. Lots of memories made, laughs shared, encouragement given, and growth as a person has been done. Here is summer by the "Friends" theme song:

So no one told you life was gonna be this way

Live in the moment. Be free. Don't expect, seek, or look for anything. Therefore you can't be disappointed with the outcome.

(clap clap clap clap)

Yay for summer, sunshine, and simplicity! These are the happiest days of your life.

Your job's a joke,

(well kind of) Life is not so great when you have deal with plumbing issues and people swearing and giving you the finger about not getting a parking spot. But you love the people who you work with!

You're broke

And that is why I live with my parents still.

Your love life's D-O-A

Therefore, you have secret crushes on the hot olympic swimmers (especially Nathan Adrian). But then you still have your forever celebrity crush: John Krasinski--that smile though...

It's like you're always stuck in second gear

It's summer, who cares?

Or when it hasn't been your day
Your week, your month, or even your year

Especially when you start a dumpster fire at work and didn't realized it happened until you go into work the next day and have to explain to your boss what happened. (I really don't know still!)

I'll be there for you (When the rain starts to pour)

Your family is there with you, through the ups, downs.

I'll be there for you (Like I've been there before)

Sometimes you just have to leave town and escape to another world. Take risks and do something besides sitting around watching Netflix.

I'll be there for you
('Cause you're there for me, too)

Dear Lake Michigan, Thank you for being my best friend this summer. You and I have had a lot of nice sunny days filled with sand and smiles. Then you would somehow get mad at me and the waters would be rough (did I forget to reply to a text again? Sorry). But we always were able to end the night with perfection and a scene of joy. Thank you for making me have hope and the ability to take pleasure in all that I do.

Here's to the end of summer (but really the seasons just change) and the adventures that await this upcoming year!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
