A Netflix Summer Binge List You'll Be Watching Until School Starts Up Again

I love me a good show or movie to watch on Netflix. With summer around the corner, I'm sure that there will be days or nights where there will be nothing to do. But if you're reading this, then you're in luck because I'm going to give you shows/movies that I've currently been obsessed with, or plan on watching this summer,

1. How to Get Away With Murder

This show is my absolute favorite. Netflix recently put the newest season on, so this will definitely be my number-one binge this summer.

2. Stranger Things

Season three will be released on Netflix July 4, 2019. This is something I've been waiting for since last summer after I finished Season two in three days, oops!

3. On My Block

If you haven't already, you need to watch "On My Block." It's a great show about a group of friends taking on their neighborhood. Season two was released a few months ago, and Diego Tinoco (aka Cesar) recently tweeted that a season three is coming soon.

4. The Office

Always a great go-to when you don't know what to watch.

5. Kevin Hart: Irresponsible

If you have not seen this comedy special yet, you need to. This had me dying laughing the whole time. And if you're like me and were confused on Twitter with all the "gun compartment" jokes, then go watch this comedy special right now.

6. Imposters

This is a Bravo original scripted show and it is so good! There are only two seasons out right now, which I hate because I end up finishing too fast, but it is so worth it. It's about a professional con artist who is going around and making people fall in love and marry her so she can take all their money.

7. Scandal

Another Shonda Rhimes master piece. I had started this show a few years ago but stopped watching after the second season. I restarted fall semester and fell in love. Olivia Pope is a total girl boss and this show is definitely worth your time.

8. Homecoming: A Beyoncé Film

This documentary is about Beyoncé's Coachella performance in 2018. It's pretty much a live concert, but also goes behind the scenes of show preparation. The quality of the concert made me feel like I was in the front row at Coachella.

9. Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile

This movie starring Zac Efron is about serial killer Ted Bundy. The dark movie, while fantasizing and romanticizing serial killers, is based on the book "The Phantom Prince: My Life with Ted Bundy" by Elizabeth Kendall. The movie will be released on Netflix on May 3.

10. All-American

Best for last, "All-American." This is a new CW show inspired by the story of former NFL player, Spencer Paysinger. The show is based on a footballer player at South Crenshaw High, who goes to play at Beverly Hills. But the show talks about more than just football. It talks about issues that go on today against people of color. The show has recently been renewed for a second season.

The first semester of college is famous for being one of the most difficult transitions of one's young adult life. You're thrown into a completely new area where the majority of the people surrounding you are strangers in an academic environment that's much more challenging then what you've grown accustomed to for the past twelve years. On top of that, you probably share a room with another person (or even multiple people) on the lumpiest "mattress" you've ever slept on.

With this change comes a lot of questions: what do I want to major in? What am I passionate about? Is what I'm passionate about something I'm actually good at? Why does the bathroom smell like cranberry juice and vodka? What is that thing at the bottom of the shower drain?

Because every other week is a week in hell.

1. It's the only week when you can go out every day and not want to rip your hair out on Sunday realizing how much you actually have to do.

2. There's always something going on, whether it's parties, welcome back socials, or free food events for the most random things.

3. The classes never run the full time...

4. You suddenly have a million friends again after not seeing everyone over break.

5. You have a fresh new meal plan again.

6. You're optimistic about how great you'll do this semester... at least for now.

7. You get a feel for how strict your professors are. How easy is it to text during class? Can I get away with not buying the textbook? Can I nap?

8. Everyone is in the same boat with the incredibly awkward ice breakers.

9. But regardless, you couldn't be more glad to be back.

Being on a first name basis with campus police and administrators.

1. When all your friends are hanging out and having fun and you’re stuck working desk.

2. When your decorations are due by midnight and it’s 11:30 PM and you’re still painting.

3. And the night before your residents all move in you’re running around taping up door tags in your hall.

4. But you know better than anyone that by week two, some wasted stranger is going to rip them down anyway.

5. Then having to change your hallway theme again during midterm week.

6. Roommate conflicts that happen before the semester even starts.

7. When you’re finally getting ready to go to bed and you stumble upon a random incident.

8. The tedious documentation that follows an already overwhelming incident.

9. Parents calling you about an issue with their student, and you’re wondering how they got your phone number in the first place.

10. You need to come up with a fun, educational programming idea, but you know nobody is going to show up without the promise of food.

11. Running into a resident at a bar or a party.

12. You remind yourself on a daily basis that you do not have to snap every time you agree with something someone says.

13. That awkward 3 A.M. encounter when your resident knocks on your door, half naked, asking for a condom.

14. Doing your nightly rounds of the building and trying to figure out where that odor of marijuana is coming from.

15. When the resident who has been documented on three separate occasions has bloodshot eyes tells you they haven’t been smoking tonight.

16. Being on a first-name basis with campus police and administrators.

17. Handling an incident that you thought only happened on TV or in the movies.

18. When you’re halfway through the semester and you see residents who have never left their room before.

19. Fire alarms are absolutely terrifying, but it has nothing to do with the possibility of there being a fire…

20. Training. More training. And continued training.
