Summer is the time all colleges students swear they are out to make the most amount of money to hold them over for the next school year. This means that you need to sell your soul to whatever company you choose to work for and suffer through your 40+ hour weeks in order to get that paycheck that is waiting for you at the end. These are some of the most typical summer jobs that college students get when they come home from college for the summer:
Coming back to an old job.
Nothing is better than being able to go back to a job that you had before you left for college. This means that you don’t have to go through training again, you already know the basics around the store, and you are going back to see some familiar faces.
Working by the beach.
Between the stores on the boardwalk and the life guards that are needed at the beach, there are plenty of job opportunities that are available and usually taken by college kids that are back for the summer.
Working at a pool.
This is almost identical to “working by the beach” but on a simpler scale.
Babysitting.
Now that school is out of session, parents need someone to watch their children while they are at work, so it is a perfect time for college students to apply for these jobs and help out parents that work all year round
Housesitting.
Summer is also the time when families go away for vacation. This means that they need someone to water their plants and take their mail into the home. This is an extremely easy job that pays well and is generally taken over by college students that are home for the summer.
Camp counselors.
Summer camp is a huge part of the summer routine for children and each camp needs a large number of workers to ensure that safety and happiness of all their campers. Because of this, many college students find this to be a perfect summer job because the duration of the job is only as long as they are home so there’s no worry of having to quit or let your boss know when you go back to school.
A chain job that has another store located close to their school.
Many students try to work at a large chain store such as a Macy’s or a Walmart over the summer in hopes that they will be able to be guaranteed a job at the one by their university when the school year rolls back around. This lowers the stressful job application process from two times to one for those planning on having a job in the fall.
