Is Having A Summer Job Even Worth It?

When coming home for summer break, I was torn on whether or not I should pick up a summer job. Before I left for college I worked at the local McDonalds and I pretty much knew I would go back if I decided I wanted to work again. For weeks I would debate on if it was worth it or not. After weighing the pros and cons I decided to go back to work. It is safe to say I made the right decision!

Having a summer job is definitely not one of the most fun things a teenager could imagine doing, but what is fun is having your own money to spend. In the early few weeks of the summer the little amount of money I had set aside was gone right before my eyes. Soon I found myself with only about $5 which is not even enough for gas. Not long after that, I was tired of being broke and ultimately made the decision that I needed to work again.

In a matter of a few days, I was putting on that McDonalds uniform again. Right away, I remembered what it was like to work in the fast food industry. After the first week of working I was already over it, and I wanted to go back to school. Soon after that I received my first check, and that did nothing but fuel my fire and push me to continue to work hard.

It is pretty obvious that working at McDonalds can have its own pros and cons. There is so much a fast food worker goes through that the general public don't always quite realize. On a day-to-day basis we deal with hundreds of customers and not all of them are always so nice. There are also other issues we run into that I'm not going to really go in to detail about.

Working in fast food isn't all bad, and can actually be a lot of fun if you are working with the right people! Luckily for me, I work night shift and a lot of my friends work with me which makes the time go by a lot faster. Along with working with friends you also get free meals, and of course your pay check every two weeks.

Ultimately, I'm very glad I made the decision to get a summer job. Even though it can be a lot of work and very emotionally challenging there is no better feeling than seeing that check with your name on it.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
