Ah, Summer. Something about the word brings to mind visions of crowded beaches, cold beverages being consumed in unique ways, and sun kissed skin. Around this time last year, the infamous phrase, “Saturdays are for the boys,” was spawned. Becoming a worldwide phenomenon practically overnight, young adults and many others instantly added this motto to their vocabulary. Throughout the course of the summer months, it seems as if the very notion of Saturdays being for the boys is increased tenfold. I mean come on, it’s summer. Who wouldn’t want to pound Bud Lights against their head and relax at the beach all day? “Saturdays are for the boys” isn’t just a saying anymore, it has become a lifestyle.

What kind of action is considered to be for the boys? To me, any kind of action or behavior is for the boys if it keeps the party going, or enhances the activities somehow. I have a friend who was for a while consistently not for the boys. Still confused if you’re for the boys or not? Let me share a story with you. Earlier this spring, I visited one of my friends in Los Angeles. Me and some of my other friends flew out to the city for a long weekend. The first night, my one friend misbehaved a little too much -- yes, he misbehaved; use your imagination -- prior to my arrival. Anyway, he proceeded to fall asleep at eight o’clock. This, my friends, would be considered not for the boys. Totally butchering the night’s vibes, we immediately woke him up and forced him to rally. The boys couldn’t let him sleep away a trip to Los Angeles. Shortly after, we went downtown and made it into a rooftop bar that was way out of our league. Picture the guys from Jersey Shore at any of the Ritz Carlton locations. That’s how out of place we were.

“Saturdays are for the boys” isn’t just a rallying cry for shirtless twenty-year-olds in college; it’s become a worldwide phrase used by boys for the boys. The meaning has spread everywhere from American troops overseas to Adam Sandler to Rob Gronkowski’s legendary post game interviews. It’s a way of life at this point, and boys of all ages, backgrounds, and professions recognize it.

So, with the help of several celebrities, and boys around the world, “Saturdays are for the boys” has become a universal way of life. After sharing stories of my boys’ moments, I hope that as summer comes to a close in the next couple weeks, all the guys reading this live by the motto. What other time of year can you spend the entire day outside, consuming sub zero beverages with some of the fellas? Summer is the perfect time for the boys to get together and cause some ruckus. Who would’ve thought one simple phrase would’ve ignited an international lifestyle? Well, here we are a year later, and Saturdays are still for the boys. Cheers.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
