Summer is finally here, and that means goodbye to stressful exams and all nighters, and hello to fruity cocktails while posting cute Instagram-worthy photos of you and your friends at the pool! Here are a few essentials to get you through this warm summer season!

1. Waterproof Mascara

It's pretty frustrating to jump into the pool to find out that your makeup has smeared all over your face. Waterproof mascara is just the fix! Grab yourself a tube to ensure that your eye makeup is on point both in and out of the water this summer!

2. Sunscreen

Ladies, sunscreen is a must have during the hot summer season! Make sure and grab one with a high SPF to keep your skin healthy and glowing.

3. Lightweight Tote

Grab yourself a cute lightweight tote, perfect for putting your towel, sunscreen, snacks and cover up in while you lounge in the sun.

4. Floppy Hat

Floppy hats are everywhere this summer, from pairing it with a cute maxi dress to throwing it on with a bathing suit, they add style to any outfit and anyone can pull it off!

5. Summer Body Mist

We all need that signature scent that complements our summer vibe, they are easy to find and come in an endless amount of fruity and flowery scents.

6. Bright Nail Polish

Time to bring out the bright orange, blue and if your daring, yellow! Don't be afraid to stand out with fun bright nails because summer is the perfect time to do it!

7. Lip Balm SPF

Keep those lips plump and moisturized by using your favorite lib balm, and don't forget to make sure it has SPF in it to keep your lips from burning!

8. Fun Sunglasses

First off, sunglasses in the summer are a must, but why not venture out and get some bright ones or maybe ones with a fun shaped frame to keep those fun summer vibes going.

9. Light Weight Dress Or Romper

The best thing about dresses and rompers? You don't have to spend time worrying about what your going to wear to the pool, and you can use it as a cover up or cute outfit!

10. Denim Shorts

From colorful pairs to your average pair of denim shorts, it's time to put away the jeans and show off your legs! Anyone can pull off a pair of denim shorts, just find the perfect versatile one to throw on in the hot weather.

11. Water

Water is always an essential, but it's even more important to stay hydrated during the summer time. Always make sure that you stay on top of this because feeling dehydrated is never fun. Carry around a thermal to keep your water ice cold all day!

12. Basic Sandals

Every gal needs that basic pair of flip flops and/or strapy sandals to throw on at the pool or with a dress. (Hint: Steve Madden has some of the cutest strapy sandals!)

13. Tanning Lotion

Tanning lotion is a must for us pale women, or for those who just want to get a nice tan. Find a brand that suits you and get prepared for a sun kissed glow!

14. Versatile Bikini Or Bathing Suit

Weather it's bright or all one color, every girl need that bathing suit that complements our body that fits just right!

15. Fun Floaties

Food floaties have been everywhere this summer! They also look super cute in pictures. So why not grab yourself one and enjoy floating in the pool while taking a super cute Instagram!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.
