Summer is finally here, and that means doing things you normally wouldn't have time (or wouldn't even bother doing) during the school year. Any college girl knows that a pair of sweatpants and their school spirit shirt is all they really need to wear to class; but how about when school isn't in session?
It is the perfect season to try new styles and experiment with your look when it seems like you have all the time in the world. There is simply no purpose required for getting dressed up in the summer, and why should there be anyways? If you want to spice up your summer style, or just want motivation for rocking more than your everyday pair of Victoria's Secret leggings, then here are some of my personal favorite styles that will make any day of the week during the summer a special one.
Maxi Dress

This is probably the first summer trend that pops into anyone's mind when thinking about their summer wardrobe. Some may think that this look can only be used for weddings or date nights, but why can't it be worn for a day at the beach or the boardwalk? Maxi dresses are so chic, and with thin straps and pretty colors to match, it always makes a summer staple.
Matching Two-Piece

If you're like me, you definitely consider yourself one of those girls who simply cannot ever rock the two-piece trend; well, thank goodness for high-waisted bottoms! This particular style may look like a bathing suit at a glance, but with a matching pattern that evens it all out, it definitely makes it a cute daytime (or nighttime!) outfit choice.
Jumpsuit

Everyone seems to forget about this longer version of the romper. The best thing about jumpsuits is that they can be used for both lounging around and fancy occasions. No matter the reason for wearing it, the jumpsuit never fails to be a comfy wardrobe choice- just refrain from going to the bathroom too much that day.
Maxi Romper

With this relatively new modern-day twist on the romper, this has become one of my absolute favorite summer styles. Not only does the piece act as a romper, but it has a long skirt that adds flair and etiquette to the ensemble. This kind of style is flattering for literally everyone and can be perfect for fancy events or just going out with your friends for the day.
Strapless

A classic summer staple is none other than making something strapless. Showing off tan lines and nice shoulders may be some of the reasons as to why this trend is so beloved, but it is just such a summery thing to not have to wear sleeves. (Plus, we can ditch the tight bra straps for a day.)
White T-Shirt Under Dress/Tank Top
So this is a trend I've noticed that celebrities, in particular, are doing. All it is is a white t-shirt underneath a dress, but it adds something casual and unique to something that can be otherwise worn for a fancy dinner. And if you aren't feeling up to wearing a dress, a thin tank top with spaghetti straps will substitute just fine and look just as cute. Oh, the magic of what a white t-shirt can do...
Sundress

The summer sundress is an iconic style that can be used for barbecues and graduation bashes, to getting your nails done and running errands. Pair it with flip-flops, sandals, or heels and it will still look just as good, too. The sundress will forever remain a timeless classic that will never go out of style- as long as the sun is still shining!
LBD

This may seem like a wintery kind of style, but the truth is the Little Black Dress is a year-round trend. What is great about the color black is that it flatters anyone and every body type. Even if you haven't gotten the littlest bit tan yet, a LBD will still make you look good doing whatever wherever.
Palazzo Pants

Everyone seems to forget that pants can act as the highlight of an outfit, too. From all the fun patterns they come in, to their light material and mega-comfiness, palazzo pants are the perfect piece of summer clothing that is a must in every fashionista's wardrobe.
Bell Sleeve Top

If you don't feel like going strapless, I suggest definitely trying the bell sleeve look. Not only does it add an elegant flair to what could be a regular long sleeve top, but it also adds the feel of summer to an outfit. From all the different styles and patterns it comes in, the bell sleeve top is just another one of summer fashion's hidden gems.
Denim, Denim, Denim
Even if it is super hot outside, denim will always be considered a summery and stylish fashion choice for any occasion. Amidst the summertime vibes, matching denim tops with denim bottoms or denim dresses with denim heels is a crazy but perfect idea. This may seem like a risky decision within the summer heat, but when is fashion ever not a risk?
