8 Reasons Summer Is The Best Season
C W Travel

Can you believe June is almost over? I can't. Anyway, this past week marked the official calendar start to summer, also known as the best season of the year. Here are eight reasons why:

1. Sunshine.

I don’t know about you, but to me a day spent basking in the sun is a day well spent. This could be at the pool, beach, a park or even in your backyard.

2. Popsicles.

Okay, I realize that you can technically have popsicles any time of year, but to me they taste so much better when it’s hot outside.

3. Summer Thunderstorms.

Having lived in the southeastern part of the US for most of my life, I’ve come to love a good summer thunderstorm. There’s just something about sitting on a screened porch watching the rain come down in buckets.

4. Watermelon, Mangoes and Peaches Oh My!

There aren’t many things better than fresh watermelon during a hot summer day, or any other fresh fruit for that matter. Many fruits are in season during the summer months, so eat up while they’re yummy!

5. Vacation.

Again, vacations can happen anytime of the year, but there’s just something exciting about taking a summer vacation to an exciting destination.

6. No School—well, at least less school.

Although many students choose to take summer classes, those often only last a portion of the summer months. Taking a break from the textbooks is always a plus if you ask me.

7. Sleep.

This ties in with number six; you don’t have classes to wake up for, so summer is the perfect time to catch up on your sleep! Doctors recommend 7-8 hours per night. You can’t disobey the doctor, right?

8. Flip Flops.

Unless you live in Florida or on some sort of tropical island (I’m jealous if you do,) you probably don’t wear flip flops or sandals all year long. The warm summer weather gives me the perfect excuse to wear sandals every day.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
