It's May so you know what that means--college and high school students around the world are getting a two-month vacation from school. Two months free from tests, papers, and insane teachers that make you want to crawl under a rock. There's such a force for summer to be spent at the beach, out of the country, or on some absolutely amazing vacation. Well if you're like me you don't have the time (or money) to do any of these things. So, what things can you do this summer that will still make the summer fun while not breaking your wallet?
Instead of taking a full vacation, just take a day trip to a location.
If you live within a few hours distance from a place that has a lot to do, go there for the day!
Go hiking.
This one is only if you like the outdoors (obviously) or else you'll be miserable all time.
Try foods and restaurants you've never tried.
Spend this summer exploring new foods that could be outside your comfort zone, who knows, you may find a new favorite food.
Make a craft you found online.
Again, only if you like crafting, if not then this will just stress you out.
Read a book.
Remind your brain how to work.
Watch a show on Netflix.
Or multiple shows......we won't judge.
Visit your college friends' hometown.
When you move out of your dorm for the summer, you instantly miss your friends. Well, while they're back home, go visit their hometowns! You'll get to see where your friends grew up and try the things they did while they were living there.
Watch a movie and have a picnic in the park.
Sounds like something straight out of a movie, right?
Go to anything free in your hometown.
During the summer most towns have concerts, firework shows, or community activities that are free. So why not take advantage of the offer!
Have a water balloon fight.
This sounds super childish, but it could be so much fun.
Meet up with your old friends from high school.
Why not have a little blast from the past while you're home for two months? This may be the first time you have seen some of them in a year, cherish your time with them.
Go to a theme/amusement park.
This may be the most expensive one, but most places run summer specials and group specials so get with a group, car pool, and have a day filled with roller coasters and food that has enough sugar to put you into a coma.
The summers you have while you're young will be the ones you'll remember the most. Once you get married and start a family you won't be able to just randomly go to Waffle House at midnight with your friends. Enjoy your summer and go out and have fun!
