We've all learned the alphabet by Kindergarten and were able to start spelling words soon after, but here is a list from A to Z of adventures to accomplish, memories to make, and places to travel to this summer.
A is for Adventures
Adventures create a story to tell, memories, and can always be shared with friends. Take advantage of any adventure you come across this summer.
B is for Beach
All throughout New England, there are quite a few beaches to go to with friends and family. A few favorites are Old Orchard Beach (Old Orchard, ME), Nantasket Beach (Hull, MA), Hampton Beach (Hampton, NH), Narragansett Town Beach (Narragansett, RI).
C is for Cape Cod
Did you really experience summer without a trip to the Cape at least once? Nope.
D is for Drive-In
Drive-in movies are always a blast. Bring some snacks, friends, blankets, pillows, and your car of course. It may be a farther away from you than the regular movie theater, but it's worth the drive.
E is for Eating Healthy
At this point, you've probably spent all your year's worth of carbs on take out and the dining hall at school, but it's time to eat healthy again. Now that fruit isn't served out of a can from your the dining hall, you can enjoy fresh fruit from an actual grocery store and much more delicious, healthier options.
F is for Frozen Yogurt
Frozen yogurt has recently within the past few years become a popular trend and has yet to fade away. Froyo always tastes better in the summer after a long beach day, topped with your favorite fruits and candy to satisfy your taste buds.
G is for GoPro
To accomplish a summer bucket list, you'll need photos and videos for Instagram and you Facebook profile picture. I 100 percent recommend investing into a GoPro to document your adventures!
H is for Hike
The freshman 15 is a real as it gets and I've found that it continues throughout the years after that as well. Hiking is a great exercise with friends, while enjoying a relaxing view. A few great spots in New England to hike include Blue Hills (Milton, MA), Katahdin (Northeast Piscataquis, ME), and Mount Washington (Sargent's Purchase, NH).
I is for Ice Cream
Though we all love our froyo, we always turn to ice cream every once in a while and can always count on Ben & Jerry's to cure any emotion.
J is for Job
Wait so I'm supposed to find a job? Yes, you will need a job to make money to afford all these activities you want to be a part of. Paid internships are ideal on summer break to not only have an income, but also boost your resume.
K is for Kayaking
Spending an afternoon or evening at sunset kayaking is always a peaceful end to a day. Not to mention, an artsy photo opportunity as well.
L is for Love
We all know summer romances are catchy, so find your summer love before the semester starts back up.
M is for Money
Be careful that you don't spend your entire paycheck each week. You'll definitely need some money for the upcoming semester's alcohol runs and 3 a.m. Dominoes orders every weekend.
N is for No
No, I am not referring to the song, "No" by Meghan Trainor, I'm referring to learning how to say no. This is a valuable aspect of life because you don't want to take on too much and need to learn to prioritize what you can and cannot do.
O is for Organize
Spring cleaning typically turns into summer cleaning when on break from school. With more time on your hands, you'll be able to organize your belongings and clean out what you need and don't need. Yes, that means you don't need to hold onto those graphic T-shirts from the middle school glory days anymore.
P is for Pizza
Now that you're out of school for a few months and don't have a local Dominoes open till 3 a.m. nearby, it's time to enjoy some real pizza from your favorite hometown local pizzerias.
Q is for Quiet Time
You're going to be so busy between catching up with hometown friends, visiting friends from college, working, and activities that you will definitely need some quiet time alone to relax.
R is for Red Sox
Being from New England, I would hope that you're a Red Sox fan. Nights spent at Fenway Park with friends and food are nights well spent. Definitely grab tickets to a night time game with the Red Sox.
S is for Skydiving
Jumping out of a plane 14,000 feet in the air is not for everyone, but if you're looking for the thrill of a lifetime, I highly recommend stopping by Sky Dive New England (Lebannon, ME).
T is for Tan
Everyone loves to get their tan on, but don't forget the sunscreen if you're fair skinned or Irish. Burns and peeling are not a good look, nor enjoyable for anyone.
U is for Unwind
During the school year you will not have many days to unwind doing absolutely nothing. Take advantage of your nap and relax time while you can.
V is for Vineyard
A popular tourist vacation spot is Martha's Vineyard. Be sure to grab a beach bag, some friends, and a $17 round trip ticket for a fun day trip.
W is for Water Parks
What a fun way to cool off in the summer! There are a handful of local water parks in New England that are fun to go to with a group of friends. Some include: Water Country (Portsmouth, NH), Water Wizz (East Wareham, MA), and Funtown Splashtown USA (Saco, ME).
X is for Xfinity Center
You can't go a whole summer without at least one concert. Be sure to get a group of friends together to buy lawn tickets to a concert at the Xfinity Center (Mansfield, MA and Hartford, CT). Make sure you don't get too drunk though, the concert security are known for making you leave for being too turnt.
Y is for You
This summer should be about you, yes you! You spend lots of time stressed over school and drama during the academic semesters, so you might as well spend the summer focusing on you.
Z is for Zip Lining
Zip lining can be a scary thought as you are flung across a mountain through the air, but Attitash (Bartlette, NH) always makes for such a scenic view along the ride.
