Studying Abroad As Told By Michelle Tanner

There's no better time in life to go and see the world than when you're in college. It doesn't matter where you go, you'll have the time of your life. A semester filled with new places, new people, and new experiences. What could be better? While everyone's study abroad experience is unique, there are some things you can be pretty damn sure will happen.

1. At first you're nervous, but you're also crazy excited.

It can be a bit overwhelming at first. Like, "oh my god, what the hell am I doing here" overwhelming. But don't worry, just tell yourself to relax and go with the flow, and you'll feel better in no time. You'll quickly realize that study abroad is basically an extended vacation with a bunch of friends. Think parties, relaxation, and exploration. Not too bad.

2. You will party. A lot.

When I say a lot, I mean a lot. I'm talking every single night for the first few weeks, and then maybe six times a week after that. And you can be sure it will be crazy. Just go with the flow and have the time of your life. Make sure there aren't too many camera phones around though... some things don't need to be documented.

3. You'll take a lot of pictures.

You'll never take as many pictures in your entire life. And it may be shocking to many Americans (because let's be honest, most of us are selfie addicts), but more often than not you aren't in the pictures you take. It won't matter if your hair is a mess or you are wearing sweats, you'll just want to document the unique places that make your study abroad experience so amazing.

4. The number of likes on social media will make you feel super cool.

Let's face it, you'll be sharing your adventures with the world. And everyone back home will be double tapping that Insta pic or liking that facebook post. It will go to your head a little bit, but don't get too carried away. And remember, keep it classy.

5. Your parents will say you never call.

And in reality, you don't call often. But can they blame you? You're out living life to the fullest while you can. They can't seriously expect you to always be free to call them. Plus, hello, time differences are a valid excuse in my book.

6. You'll always make time to talk or Skype with your friends, though.

It doesn't matter who has to stay up late to make it work, you'll always find time to talk to your friends back home. Try not to get too frustrated with Skype though, you should expect it not to work perfectly 9 out of 10 times. When in doubt, Whatsapp or Messenger work great to keep up to date on each other's lives.

7. You'll have the best time ever.

Time will fly by and before you know it it will be time to head back home. You'll probably seriously consider just not going home at all, but your parents probably won't let that happen. Either way, you'll have several months packed with parties, trips, and experiences you'll never forget.

And remember, when it comes to study abroad...

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
